Back to the tablet! Would you try a 720p Xvid on it and see how it gets on?

Basically travelling is the only time I would really love one. I like my laptop for using in the house.

If sound is good then yeah, slap in car - was gonna do something like that with my vega, but viewing angle is arse, so would be useless.

Does it have a usb port? Add a 3g dongle + GPS and you've got a great in car sat nav there - in fact, depending on what 'droid phone you use (pretty sure my HTC HD is uniquely gay for its spec in not passing through), I think the pairing shares the GPS signal too, so if you have enough data allowance, you could just pair up and voila.

Sounds like you might have found a bargain

I am really looking forward to ICS (or CM9 more to the point) on the Galaxy note , I am not really into games , but they usually give you an idea of performance  - Apparantly there is some "Video chunking" , but that is something that will definately be sorted -  this is not even in Alpha state yet !

seems futeko have refunded pre-orders on batch 2 as they can't fulfill them.

Was that an email you got from them about it?

I read it on another forum.  I'd be interested to know why.  I can only assume the manufacturers are trying to charge more..

                Glad it seems good though!

The S-Pen on the note is a proper stylus input like on the HTC Flyer right? Not just a capacitive finger replacement?

Am utterly convinced by the note taking facilities on the Flyer, it's hugely useful for annotations and just basic notes or diagrams. Genuinely is in the requirements list of any tablet i want to get. Great as the quad core models sound, the functionality is definitely more important to me than the raw number crunching. The iPad2 is impressive, but i've been on the Flyer and after installing a few apps got straight on with some paperwork, sketching up diagrams, screengrabbing maps and annotating them. First piece of tech that i've really been able to see as a proper pad and pen replacement rolled up with my laptop

Is a hacked Android on them yet? Have spent more time using the HTC Flyer lately, 7" 1024x600 is pretty good, but a thinner bezel and higher res screen would be perfect.

Though i'd mug somebody for their Galaxy Note at the minute, they look good

i picked up a playbook for £169 yesterday based on the assumption that it will get ICS at some point soon.  They go for more than £169 on ebay, so if i don't like it i can get my money back through one means or another.

I don't think they've been £169 consistently since xmas, they just dropped to that price again yesterday

I see PCW are doing them as an "online exclusive" as £169 with an instore of £249. can't say I had noticed a period where you could pick up a £169 playbook *somewhere*
I am surprised they aren't just giving the things away with top end Blackberries.
Surely no one can deny that if a product gets put up at well under 50% of its launch price within 6 months of launch, and still doesn't sell out ....  it must be a bit of a lemon ?

You may be right that it's a lemon Z.  I've never even held one! By the end of Feb, once OS2 has been released and the hackers have had more time to try and put ICS on there, i'll know if it's for me or not.  I don't think i'll lose out financially whatever happens really.
