RE: To all metal fans, who's the best? - 07 July 2008 17:49

They were not layered guitars in the final countdown solo!! Its just sweep arpeggios played with delay and compression. The Europe guitarists are Kee Marcello or John norum, one left and the other took over can't remember which way round.

John Norum played the solo, Kee Marcello replaced him.

Wouldn't call it sweep picking, the fast bit is only played on two strings, very fast hammer-ons and pull-offs

The bit about layered guitars I got from a guitar mag which tabbed the song, so not saying 100% definite, but would expect a guitar mag to get its facts right. Do you have any info pertaining to the recording of it?

I am getting a fancy for some doom metal at the moment. It's more sophisticated than death.

I also really dig Ministry cos he isn't afraid to be controversial with his lyrics.

If you set the delay to a double attack on a DD-3 cant remember the exact settings as i changed to line6.

Yeah i find it easier to sweep the two strings, gives the same sound, they are the upper notes of arpeggios really makes it more simple if you think of it like that if that makes sense.

Not entirely sure about the recording. Id imagine if you were to checkout John Norum's or Europes website there should be some FAQ's perhaps?

Alex Skolnik - Testament

This guy annoys me. He was never really that good and now puts II-V-I progressions into testament covers in his dodgy jazz trio.
