Training schedule question
11 February 2010 06:11
( permalink)
I currently train in Muay Thai and BJJ purely for self defense/pleasure(?!). Schedule is pretty much as follows: Mon : MT 1 hr lunchtime Tues : BJJ 1 hr lunchtime Weds: MT 1 hr lunchtime Thurs : BJJ 1 hr lunchtime Fri : BJJ 1 hr lunchtime MT 1hr evening Sat BJJ 1hr morning followed by yoga 1hr Sun BJJ 1hr morning 1/2 hour break then MT 1 hr The gym I train at does one hour classes but you can do one straight after the other so I'm interested in peoples opinions as to whether it would it be better to do the current schedule as above or perhaps not do a Monday lunchtime but do 2 hrs of BJJ or MT on a Tuesday etc. The BJJ class starting at 5 doesnt repeat exactly the same stuff taught in the class that starts at 4 so its not a case of repeating the previous techniques again but obviously still ground work so there will be similiarities. I'm new to BJJ (2 months in)but have done MT for quite a few years so my stand up is reasonable standard so I could just go balls out in BJJ but I enjoy the MT training, and the instructors are all from Sityodtong camp so seems foolish not to!! What do you think people?

To much and not enough imo mate, every day is to much, unless you intend to compete, as burnout will surely follow, also one hour aint enough for the training, two at least imo, I recommend, choose your favourite art to devote the most time, eg; 2 hours MT 3 times a week, then bjj on sun, Mt is better for self defense than bjj these days, the last place you wanna be is on the deck in the carpark, but thats a different story ;-)
