James do you know if the body fitness class will be split into height classes any time soon?

I don't actually.  But I am attending a UKBFF meeting on Saturday night, so I can find out then

i really REALLY really (REALLY!!!) think they should follow the IFBB examples and do it...push for it !!!!  when you're 5 ft nothing its very hard to make an impression next to some long legged 6 footer!!!
Hey, i might even do bodyfitness if they do a short arse class lol

I take the hint Liz!  It's my first meeting, so I'm the new boy so we'll see!

I think at the finals Liz this would be a good thing...would bring us inline with the rest of europe and the US but at the moment it just wouldnt work at the qualifiers.....too many qualifiers at the moment have only 1, 2 or 3 competitors in Bodyfitness and so height classes would mean even fewer in each class.......when the numbers are up at the qualifiers, im sure this will be the next step.

The last few qualifiers though Mart, have been very well attended.  I see this category very much on the up, and this may open it up even further.

MuscleTalk Interviews Luke Bagster - 15 October 2009 15:05
MuscleTalk Pre-2009 UKBFF Finals Interview with Luke Bagster

JC:  Thanks for taking the time to do a quick interview for MuscleTalk, as I know you’re busy with your prep in the run up to the Finals this weekend!

Which category are you competing in and what show and when did you qualify for the Finals?

LB: Intermediates u80s Midlands Championships

JC: Do you feel you’ve improved since your qualifier and in what way?

LB: Yes, I feel I have put on some more size.

JC: Who do you feel will be your toughest competition in your category and why?

LB: I will be my toughest competition in my category, because I always want to look at my best, and I always push my self to the limit!

JC:  What will you be doing to bring your best package onto the stage?

LB: I will be trying to get as dry and grain looking as I can like I did for the Midlands.  This consists of zero carb, 1 week out and 150gram turkey breast steak every 3 hours.

JC: What’s your competitive background in bodybuilding?

LB: Competed back in '98 in the juniors where I won a few small shows. And haven’t competed much since, thought it was time to hit the competitive stage again and prove to my self I can do well at this sport I love and use my genetics to full potential!

JC:  Do you have a goal for your positioning this weekend?

LB: My Goal is to do as well as I can, then next year get bigger and better and finally become a good pro in the future.

JC:  Thanks doing this interview for MT.  All the best for the weekend and I’ll see you there!

LB: Thanks for a great interview.

MuscleTalk Pre-2009 UKBFF Finals Interview with Tania Rodrigues

HA:  Thanks for taking the time to do a quick interview for MuscleTalk, as I know you're busy with your prep in the run up to the Finals this weekend!
Which category are you competing in and what show and when did you qualify for the Finals?

TR: I qualified in Jersey Channel Islands and I am competing in the Body fitness category.
HA: Do you feel you've improved since your qualifier and in what way?

TR: I have definitely made improvements since the qualifier. I have increased size on my legs and shoulders and brought my waist in tighter.  I made a lot of changes in my diet and training so I feel I have what the judges are looking for.

HA: Lots of good female competitors in your category but who do you feel will be your toughest competition and why?

TR: I won't know who I'm up against until the day of the show but  from looking at past British final competitions I would probably say
Karen Norris and Carly Thornton, as they are more experienced.

HA:  Who will be there to help you over the weekend?

TR: I have my partner Brian, my brother Cliff and a lot of friends from Jersey for help and support.

HA: What's your competitive background in bodybuilding?

TR: I first competed in June 2007 and qualified for the British championships that year.  I then went on to compete at the British in 2007 but did not place.  I took a year out and entered my local qualifier this year and qualified.  I am  competing in the British this weekend.

HA:  Do you have a goal for your positioning this weekend?

TR: I am hoping to win! But i would be happy with a top 3 to make all my hard training and dieting feel worthwhile.

HA:  Thanks doing  this interview for MT, Tania.  Good luck for the weekend  and I'll see you there!

MuscleTalk Pre-2009 UKBFF Finals Interview with Daz Ball - 15 October 2009 21:50
MuscleTalk Pre-2009 UKBFF Finals Interview with Daz Ball

JC:  Thanks for taking the time to do a quick interview for MuscleTalk, as I know you’re busy with your prep in the run up to the Finals this weekend!

Which category are you competing in and what show and when did you qualify for the Finals?

DB: I’m competing in the Superheavies, I qualified because I’m a past champion and last year’s second placing.

JC: Do you feel you’ve improved since last year and in what way?

DB: Everything has improved. Size, shape and condition.  Let the judges be the judges on the day!

JC: Who do you feel will be your toughest competition in your category and why?

DB: Got to respect Alvin because he’s the champ, Zack because he’s working with Neil Hill, and then you can’t count anybody else out; because it’s all on the day.

JC:  What will you be doing in the last couple of days to bring your best package onto the stage?

DB: resting!

JC:  Do you have a goal for your positioning this weekend?

DB: To get my IFBB Pro card.

Here’s a face to face interview Daz and I did earlier today; filmed by Hazel.

Nottingham the night before the UKBFF Finals is buzzing with bodybuilders!  Big guys and artificially tanned people are walking the streets.  The club doormen and looking on and whispering.

I have spoke to quite a number of competitors in passing today as well as some of the judges and reporters.  Everyone is saying that this is going to be the BEST Finals ever.

It sure looks that way!

Be sure to tune in here from 10.30am tomorrow morning as HERE is where it's happening on the net!

Hi everyone!

After a long 4.5 hour trip from Portsmouth i am now sat in the Royal concert hall in Nottingham with James and Hazel.

Managed to see Daz Ball in the hotel before we left for the venue and his legs are like road maps with the veins.
Luke and Ricardo are in high spirits and there was a very upbeat mood in the hotel room when Daz was giving them some pre-show tips.

I'm sat directly behind the judges table so without doubt the best seats in the house bar none.

Currently setting up the laptops and getting things sorted here while the stage is being prepped and the sound guys keep doing the stereotypical "one twoooo...one twoooo"

Sitting with one of the judges for today, Karl Borowiec from Hercules gym, just as the stage is all set up.

H: How many judges are there today?

K: Nine judges today.

H: What do you think to the finals being over two days for the first time?

K: Brilliant, less pressure for the competitors, gives them more time on stage.  Its such a long and gets rushed at the end.  Few competitors from Hercules, Deam McTeirnan, Star.  Looking forward to seeing some of the competitors at the Hercules show next week!

H: Will there be a good turnout of spectators?

K:Yeah, lots of spectators, the crowd is a major part of the shows, helps the competitors.

H: Best thing about being a judge?

K:Getting interviewed by nice people!  I love it, getting to see the best physiques around the country, see them improve.

Thanks Karl, enjoy the weekend!

Juniors 1st up!

number 1 -  good overall build and leg seperation... legs like road maps with the vascularity. Best conditioning of the group today

number 2 - great abs and shoulders, needs to be a touch darker in the tan as the lights drown out some of his conditioning.

number 3 - tight midsection from the side, needs a bit more conditioning

number 4 - good chest, arms are ripped in the side poses with good bicep peak. needs to bring up the calves.

number 5 - balanced physique but along with number 6, in this tought line up he is in need of more size and conditioning. Great starting point for a junior though.

number 6 - well presented on stage, needs a bit more mass for this tough line up

number 7 jordan  - great overall physique, deep tan, legs have some really good cuts and ham/quad seperation. a bit too much oil... needs to remember to shave every area on show lol, big tufts of hair on his ass.

Re:UKBFF Finals 2009 - LIVE report play by play - 17th-18th October - 17 October 2009 11:22
Masters

10  - Tall bodybuilder but proportions are not thrown out by his height.

11 - Great size and well balanced between upper/lower.

12  - lean, looking in good nick but needs more size to be competitive in this class sadly. Abs have veins running through, abdominal hernia present but not a distraction to what is a good midsection.

13  - Incredible size but on the smooth side. Needs to control the midsection when not posing. Quads like tree trunks

14 - lean, well conditioned legs

15 -great conditioning and shoulders. Tight midsection and poses well

16 - looking thick and full, well presented, nicely cut calves

17 - along with 16, one of the slightest builds in this line up , a tad more conditioning needed but good thickness in his physique

18 - ice cube abs, needs more size to his chest to balance things out. Conditioning is drying out better as he poses.

19 - Good conditioning, wide back from rear lat spread, cracking intercostals on side poses

20 - needs to be a tad darker,  thick and full chest. Quads nicely sperated... one of the best conditions in this line up

21 - good overall physique, great calves and quad sweep

22 - Looking very dry, full... tan is very red lobster. he has a very good set of pins but needs a bit more leg conditioning to show them off best

23 - Very deep tan, slightly too much oil which glosses over what is some good conditioning. Wide back

24 - Smooth and needs to work on his conditioning to see what muscle size he has
