        Firstly, we are all unique. I tried that diet too and it flared me up using loads of yoghurt. In the end I just tried bread and mash and stuff to help get through the first part. Now am on methotrexate and it's taken nearly 4 months but I have finally got somewhere. I am still up most nights anywhere from 3 to 6 times. But the day time has got a lot better.

        I find when in a flare there really isn't much food wise that helps get you out of it. I recommend aloe Vera, slippery elm mashed into banana really helps. I don't think grapefruit or tomatoes are going to help you or the cheese. The main thing is to slowly try working at getting small things achieved in your life. Breathe more deeply, go for walks, buy some nappies if you can't work out whether you are going to make it. These really helped me just psychologically knowing it was going to be ok if an accident happened really helped prevent any accident and got me out of the house more frequently. It's tough mentally, so allow yourself a little time to feel angry, upset or scared. But move on and push yourself forward. Have something you enjoy every day. You are doing really well coping with it, so remind yourself of that too. Keep going. It has taken me four months to come out of my flare so it can take a while but it has never stopped me living a life during that time. So keep going.

          Odog,
          I have tapered down on the yoghurt and started to implemented Quinoa. The drugs I am taking at the moment are;
          Predisonale (35 mg/daily),
          Azathioprine (150mg/ daily),
          Prednisone anemia (40mg/ twice daily),
          Iron sulphate (daily),
          Lansoprazole (daily),
          Mesalamine (4.8mg/ daily).

          One day hope to be drug free...

          James,
          Thanks for the thread very informative. I have taken key points from the thread and will start to implement in my diet. Fingered crossed I gain muscle mass!

          Atobagofan,
          At the moment, I am consuming loads of turmeric, cumin, garlic, manuka honey (20+), iron spa, probiotics (10billion active cultures- twice daily). Next week I may start the slippery elm, aloe aera as I want to see if what I am currently using is actually working or making a significant difference.  If not then I will move on the slippery elm, aloe vera. Thanks for the inspirational push-I needed that at this point in my life.

          Worth taking a food intolerance test?
          I have been researching on food intolerance test through a well-known laboratory for any specific foods that I may be intolerant against such as milk, wheat, gluten and from this I could optimise my diet and potentially control the UC. Up till now, I have not had any food intolerance that I have known off- It costs on approximately £250. What yours views on this?  Do you recommend such test?

          Thankyou for your replys,

          Hoggy!
