Unsure of which events are suitable for first comp! Please help :)

Hi I'm looking to start bodybuilding and I've come across a couple of competitions in the UK but I'm not sure which are suitable for complete beginners.. does anyone know if this one is available for a first comp (age 27 and female)? It's the Northern Qualifier RNCM in Manchester 12 Aug 2012 (I came across it on www.bnbf.co.uk). Really appreciate any info! :)

Theres still not a huge amount of women competing in the UK so you will find a mix at all the comps of beginers and those with pro cards. The only thing you want to check is if they are natural federations or non tested. BNBF hold club days around the country were you can go along and meet people and find out what happens at comps and get advice, you should find details on the site or on there facebook pages.

Yes, BNBF qualfiers are suitable for first timers. As are NPA qualifiers, and the UKDFBA show in September. Those are the natural/drug tested options. As Jess says, there will be a mix of people (although Pro Card holders won't be competing in amateur shows) - first timers, people who've competed for years, people who have placed at the finals in previous years etc. But really that doesn't matter, other than (perhaps) to your confidence levels. And it should do that. Atmosphere at shows is lovely, I competed first time last year with both NPA and BNBF and was on stage with some people who've been competing for years, but it was always a great atmosphere and we were judged on how we looked on the day, not on how long we'd been competing. Have fun!
