DeepSquatter Thankfully for the rest of us Yes, given the low esteem in which Savickas is held by the strongman community, you certainly are right to deem your personal opinion as representative of the opinio communis - sic loquitur vox populi, eh? As for Sigmarsson - he seems to have been a perfect example of precisely the issue in my initial post: a flamboyant persona in competition, but a very different character outside the limelight. From what I remember of earlier competitions, I also don't recall JP being anything other than charitable in defeat, or that he sought to find excuses when he lost. But each to his own. Arguments perdicated on personal preference are doomed never to reach a meaningful conclusion.

Doc D Yes, given the low esteem in which Savickas is held by the strongman community You are confusing yourself now. Strongman is richer as a result of the range of personalities, not in spite of it. Humble, arrogant, gracious, angry, happy etc etc all have their place in strongman. Let us not forget, WSM is entertainment TV. DS

That is one thing that i feel WSM could improve is letting the fans know when and where the final is, it always seems to be 2 weeks beforre the final before the announce it.

Question for Big Tel. Did you actually paint the S.t Georges cross across your face and pull that pile of busses? What did you think when you first saw that advertisement?

I have to say i would love it if they showed more of our personalities on the tv. These days you dont get to see so much of that. I personaly think its good to have different types of people. If we all said the same it would be a boring show. 95% of the guys that i have met in strongman are really great people, funny, talented and freindly. we need to see more of that on the tv.

Im watching right now on Bravo +1. 3 Events in. Fantastic display of raw strength Laurence!! 7 reps on the squat! I guess Terry was right about our boys teaching the other nationalities on how to Squat and Deadlift. Time to tune on on the second half.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys :-) At WSM you can wear suits and straps for deadlifting but i would prefer to do it without the suits. Make sure to watch next week as its another good one for the brits ;-)

See Travis Ortmayer for reasons not to suit up when squating . Seems the "Texas Stoneman" lost his grit when the arse of his suit fell out.

Savickas for me head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to true strength, he comes close to Kaz (only in my opinion) for the static strength element, as well as being a good athlete. I love all of the different personalities, it makes it much more interesting, not trying to brown nose on here but both Terry and Laurence come across as very decent blokes lol when interviewed etc.. Re Dr D Sigmarsson came across as a real genuine human being he just knew how to play to the camera and as a result enriched WSM a sad loss.

Absolutley loving the WSM this year on Bravo. Trying my best to avoid finding out who wins tho! Looking forward to big Terrys appearance this week. Laurence you where very impressive in your heat! Me and my little lad Reece who is 11 always watch the show together and he wants to be a strongman when he gets bigger! He is a marius nut but to be honest, the big man doesnt look like he wants it as badly this time. For me Poudstone is just a machine. You can see it in his eyes just how much he wants it this year and to be honest he is looking unstoppable.
You must show no mercy.....nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge u.......For your greatness shall silence them all.......

I basically did it for 2 reasons, one is cause well I pull straight on it really gives me pain in my patella tendons (had lot's of issues with them last year) and two because I felt like if I lent right back pulling straight on I would fall over!
