I enjoyed the last heat the most to be honest! Thought the first two heats were pretty dull! I thought Darren did well and showed he can mix it. Much as I hate to say it Poundstone was pretty impressive in heat 1. Loz they're saving the best for the last two heats mate from a British point of view!! :-)

I think the first 3 heats were slightly boring as you kind of knew who would win, So far i have been most impressed by Darrens efforts but overall Phister i thought he would be second to Pudzianowski so was quite a nice to see. I think the next 2 heats will be the best to watch

I think Heat 4 will be good from a British point of view but also was a massive battle for 2nd place in that heat!! Should make good viewing I think! Heat 5 may be a little on the dull side too!

It is some wait between heats.. Though I cringe at what seems to be a new wave of American domination, I was impressed with Poundstone, he seems inhuman. I was rooting for Saddler to snatch up second place spot. However you must feel it for the guy after being placed in the heat with Pudz and Pfister. Very pleased he brough home the deadlifting gold that heat, seems us Brits love to show our friends across the pond how to do that lift correctly . Pudz looked a little off colour. I know alot of talk was that he is found wanting after his bicep injury, though he seemed to lack the hunger he has displayed in the past. I feel the title will slip away from him (or has.. ) I fear from searching about the heats should the result be spoiled. Can any of you guys post a brief list of who is up in the coming heats? I must also give you lads a tip of my hat for your fine representation in strongman.

Terry_Hollands Much as I hate to say it Poundstone was pretty impressive in heat 1. Terry: don't know whether you can answer this honestly (politics etc.) - but is he really as obnoxious in 'real' life as he appears on TV, or is it just a contest persona? Perhaps the crowing in victory and whining in defeat sit well with an American audience, but for me he is the antithesis of a good sportsman.

I have to say Darrens heat was the best so far. He always puts in a top performance. It was always going to be hard against two winners of WSM. I agree with Terry, Heat 4 and 5 will be the best ;-). Its been so long that ive almost forgotten what happened myself.

I wouldn't really know if it is just a TV persona or not, I do my very best to not get into conversation Americans seem to love that confidence/arrogance. I think British people prefer the modest approach!

I was on the edge of my seat roaring for Darren he did really well and he had to press the first 3 stones, his deadlifting was awesome. Cant wait to see the rest of the brit boys but its such a long wait. I felt gutted for Marku as well i was sure he would have done well in the dbell press as he did really well in the UK's. As for the americans Kevin knee and Dave Ostlunds seem to be the only 2 i like to watch, they dont seem to have the arrogance of the others

I feel the title will slip away from him (or has.. ) He didn't have the best prep. Pudz fans will be pleased to see, he has bags of hunger in the final .... he wants that 6th title bigtime! DS

Perhaps the crowing in victory and whining in defeat sit well with an American audience, but for me he is the antithesis of a good sportsman. Being a good sportsman is 1st and foremost being competitive. There are plenty of smiling, happy bad sports men propping up the bottom of the table. They really need to ask themselves what they are so pleased about? It may come across to some as whining, I see it as someone analysing his performance and looking for aspects that need to be improved. He does a good job engaging the audience. Strong personalities are just the rich tapestry of strongman DS

Laurence - I see the name change is sorted! I have enjoyed all the heats so far, for the first time of watching ... Bravo does tend to repeat though, which is maybe a good thing, but that much?!

DeepSquatter Being a good sportsman is 1st and foremost being competitive. If one wishes to limit the discussion to strongman, I think of guys like Murumets, Katona - or even Savickas, if you wish to argue that the first two are just make-weights - who are excellent, dominant, and strike me as utterly humble. Magnanimous in victory, modest in defeat. One need not pose and posture like a pro wrestler in order to prove oneself. No need to proclaim: 'I'm the man!' when actions speak far louder than words. Personal preference, I suppose, but I know which mode of conduct I admire - be it in strength sports or the world outside.

I think we are both fans of WSM not just athleats. I have always loved watching WSM and enjoy watching the other heats as im not always paying full attention to other groups when we were out there.

Must be hard for non-elite and non-professional trainers/individuals to comprehend the actions and emotions that those guys go through. I'm pretty sure if I was one of the top people in the world in my discipline, I'd be more than happy to let everyone know when I was doing well, and let everyone know when I wasn't. Slightly off-topic, does anyone know when the location for WSM 2010 will be announced? I've heard it's going to be a European venue. Truth be told, I don't care where it is this year - I'm going.
