Weight Loss around the Chest area 13 January 2012 12:51 (permalink)
[Helpful answer received] / [List Solutions Only]
I am 19 years age and weigh around 12 Stone 12 lbs, i have been training for a few months now and am starting to get results, I have managed to sort my diet out and lost significant weight, I started of around 15 Stone 10 Lbs.

The only problem I have is excess weight in the chest area, is there any specific exercises which are good for burning fat around this area ?

Help would much appreciated.

As far as I am aware you cannot spot fat reduce.

By this I mean that you can't target a specific area your body metabolises fat as a whole and unfortunately for a guy the last places for it to dissapear are around the abdominal area and the chest.

So keep doing what your doing and it will come off eventually

3 stone of fat loss is fantastic progress btw

Indeed, you can't spot reduce fat, much to mine and a lot of people's chagrin!

Personally I'd give yourself a big pat on the back for what you've achieved so far, if you're still losing weight overall then keep doing it - once you get down to the weight you'd like then think about trying to add a few pounds of lean mass and in doing so increase the size of your pectorals thus changing your body composition and hopefully fill out your chest a little to firm things up.
Don't over train the area, if you're lifting weights just stick to the basics, bench press, flys etc.

But for now just keep doing what you're doing and it will come good :)

As above posts, but bear in mind that training and getting muscle hypertrophy in the chest area will help with the look of this area.

Well done on your efforts so far!

As stated mate you cannot spot reduce fat.  What you can do is ensure your diet and routine are spot on and you are doing adequate amounts of cardio.

Vibora makes a good point.  If you train your chest, you will not spot reduce the fat in that area, however you could build decent pecs under there which will become apparent once you reduce your bodyfat to a level you are happy with.

                  as above,

cardio is king and lots of it

as vibora mentioned, which i can vouch for - ive started training my chest heavy again (injury) and its helping some what. hit the chest from various angles too i.e. incline, decline, flat, cable, flies etc. it may just be a stubborn area for you - keep at the cardio/diet, it will come off eventually :)

                  well done and good luck!
