What Would You have Done ? Oh Yes , One Of Those Threads !

Not been posting on here a lot recently but as of ten minutes ago I have some excellent MT general section fodder.
 
What would you have done in the following situation.
 
Two months ago your 14yr old son had given his broken X-Box to a older  lad he was friendly with , as this lad said he knew someone who would fix it in return for the limited edition 'skin' (Halo 3) it had.After loosing touch a little with this lad through moving house and changing circle of friends your son only speaks to said lad through the medium of x-box live, starts to feel he is going to get ripped off and more recently cant seem to contact him at all.
 
Finally you decide you need to intervene and clarify with your son that at no point was it suggested that he had relinquished ownership of his x-box and that no compensation had been given to him . After this is clarified you drive your son through to the lads house. You remain in the car while your son knocks at the door. You can neither see the door nor be seen from the door and as such are not behaving in a threatening manner.
 
The lad in question is not at home but his stepfather tells your son that he will pass on the message that he had called and wanted his x-box back.
 
The next day when you come home from work your son informs you that he has spoken to 'the lad' on x-box live and was told that he would get his x-box back next week or maybe the week after but that if his dad (you) came through to the lads house again being threatening then this lad would "kick off" and his dad (you) would "get it with a bar or a bat".
 
Your son tries to contact the lad again on x-box to no avail. Your son knows where this lads current location is. He is at a friends house. His friends lives with his mother and sister and your son does not believe there are any more males in the house.
 
The lad in question is either 18 or 19 , you have met him briefly and took him as a bit of a emo-esque gimp at the time. You do not know much about his family or his circle of friends.
 
Think thats all the salient facts. Sorry if any of it's confusing.

The lad in question is by all accounts technically a man, so i woiuld go round and get the xbox back for your son.

Or, altho probably a very long winded way, report it stolen and give the name and address of the lad that has it.

ooorrr, say fcuk it as it's knackered anyway, go and buy a new 2nd hand one which he can pay back and learn a life lesson from.

Many threats are made, if one in a hundred actually come to anything Id be surprised.

I would go round, with my son, speak to this lad personally and tell him that we expect the x-box returned right now, and that if he'd like to make good on his threat then do it now or in future keep his mouth shut.

I guarantee you nothing would arise from it - in the extremely unlikely event said 'lad' were to stupid enough to produce said 'bar or bat' then he would get it inserted in him....

I also think a crate of stella will help clear your thoughts and make the decision for you!

Good point mate. I informed this lad ( who was as I remembered a complete gimp) that if anything happend to my son as a result of this I would come straight back to him. My son was not worried about reprisals and tells me this lad has no 'hard' mates.  I was actually suprised my son had not been more forceful with this lad as he really was a gimp and my son is much larger than him. I am however pleased that my son is not that way inclined.
 
 
Upon reflection I really wish things had not happend the way they did as I realise this kind of event can have a snowball effect but I will not be threatend  or stolen from by 18yr old gimps who think they can hide behind their keyboard when they are only five minutes away in the car.
 
Lets be right , I do not yet have the xbox, so my action may yet have been futile at best and inflamatory at worst!

I don't get why this lad threw out idle threats for, if he's a bit of a wimp, has no hard mates and is still going to get your xbox back. 

The only thing I can think of is that he's gave it his mate to fix and his mate has screwed him over and he reacted like an idiot to the situation.

Go round there and beat the son, and the dad up with an iron bar. Just to be sure like!

You can't have your son sat around  chatting with this 18 year old, as the 18 year old could say 'my dad's harder than your dad' What can your son come back with, 'um, no, my dad's harde.....oh, no perhaps he isnt' lol*

Congratulations on that (was the feeling of beating boar better than getting 2nd place), read about it on here and saw the video but I thought you'd done one more recently?
 
Unfortunately not, my brother who promised me a lift up there as I knew I would be in no fit state to drive back, bailed on me in the morning by staying over at his misses the previous night and ignored my phone calls. I had no other means to get up there, should have just caught the coach up the previous day but my brother said "nahs its alrite I'll give you a lift save you having to stay in a hotel or b&b for the night". Love him but sometimes hes a wa*ker.

If the conversation has been saved then you could always show it to emo's daddy and get him in trouble. No chocolates for 2 weeks!

I'd suggest that you go round again but supervise the visit a bit more closely.

It's probably just some sad idle threat by the kid having thought he could get away with nicking the Xbox.

I would hope your son will get his console back but if not it'll be a valuable lesson on being careful with posessions.

I'm intrigued by this plan.

Wounded badgers are feisty are they not.... as are many wounded wild animals but a badger is a good size..... good for what I have no idea

I'd do this.

You did gain far too much fat though,I mean,you're not muscular at all,you're just a fat mess.

For the plan you need

1) One wounded badger
2) One steak (cooked medium rare)
3) Several photos of the xbox thief (thats the hard part)
4) Some string
5) One plate

You then place a photo of the thief on the plate and the steak on top of the photo. Attach the string to the steak.

Now  you release the badger and when its about to get the steak pull the steak away, leaving only the photo for the badger to look at. The badger will be extremely annoyed and might eat the photo

Repeat this several times until the badger is blind with rage. It will then associate the photo of the thief with extreme anger and starvation.

Then chuck the badger in the boot and drive to the lads house. Once he answers the door release the badger and in theory it will tear him to pieces.

Then take the badger home and feed it the steak. You might want to put a photo of yourself under it this time!

Release the badger into the wild.
