What does "No time-wasters" really mean on adverts? 03 March 2006 21:59 (permalink)
Hello All,

I am still in pursuit of a decent car and making good progress. Anyhow, have been reading the classified adverts and I see some people put "No time-wasters" beside some of the adverts. Who the hell would bother ringing up and wasting someone's time over a £100 Dishwasher for instance!! I don't get it! What timewasters?

you get alot of test pilots when your trying to sell a good motor. It was murder when my mate was trying to sell his supra, The amount young chavs and people who obviously could'nt afford to run and insure the car that turned up trying to get a free go was ureal.

We get them loads on ebay.

Win an item and then want to see it first before they part with cash, or even mail to say they dont realy want the item after they have won it.

          T*TS the lot of them!

Or they buy a second hand item thats 5 years old and want it to be new and still have the factory sticker on it!

Time wasters have cost us about 1K in the last 6 months and thats just on ebay alone.

They are thier total fcukwits or deluded arseholes!

Can you tell, i dont like them?

11-1 are the odds if Trident finds a timewaster and fights him. Odds favourable towards trident of course

The worst thing is it disclaimers like that have absolutely no effect!

I was selling my old pc in the paper-£200-No offers. First call I get is "I know you said no offers; but would you take £150?"

FFS its like when a lass gives you the brush off it sort makes ya more determind to charm her.....

I had a time waster last night, I put an add for my old pc in adtrader last week, got a phone call last night asking about it, then he said we will give me a phone when he is nearly in my town and id come out and guide him back to my place, Well guess what he never turned up! Time waster imo.

Remember guys as soon as you publish your telephone number in whatever media your using, papers, magazines, internet - that telephone number is now seen as 'Public Media' meaning anybody can call you up. Same goes for 'No Canvassers' canvasing is intent to sell/obtain money from the person. At work (motor indusrty) when we phone people we get hit with the 'Theres NC on the advert, you shouldnt be calling me!' whichi is just hot air really. 1 - just because somebody calls you, doents mean to say they are canvassing. 2 - just because NC is on the advert doent mean to say that they should get no calls, its merely a request.

Sorry if its a bit of a rant but a lot of people dont realise these things when they place an advert.

Not at 3am. Talk about wasting (sleep) time.

buyer/seller psychology is a great area of study IMO

when in the presence of money, hard cash that is, man changes regardless of original statements and intent IMO

Dude, I could not agree with you more. Why would anyone be interested in wasting someones time. People do try things on, i e. ask for a cheaper price for whats on offer, but when someone puts a big notice saying "no time wasters" that puts me off big time. No one wakes up in the morning and goes, " I am going to waste someones time today"
