What would you recommend as the best pre-workout supplement?

I'm just after some ideas. I presently use Pump Fixx by Advanced Muscle Science & previously used BSN N.O.-Xplode but am open to suggestions. I'm after something that gives me an energy boost & also something that gives a more pronounced pump. I've heard people say about various supps (AAKG, Citrulline Malate etc) but just want some info from you good people on what you use & the benefits you find. Thanks.

I was using jack3d which i recommend but the one thats getting the best reviews atm is Craze
The last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides the champion from someone else who is not a champion.

Thanks Sharpie. I should also mention that I'm looking to spend as little as possible. (Hard times!)

Gatesy2512 Thanks Sharpie. I should also mention that I'm looking to spend as little as possible. (Hard times!) if thats the case, then honestly, dont bother. why buy something you cant afford? preworkouts are a bit of a training nicety, and a luxury. they are great, and i certainly enjoy using them, but they arent essential by any means! if times are hard, then save the money for things that will make a difference!

Good advice above! However, if you feel you need that little extra kick in the gym, then maybe some Caffeine Tabs may be an idea? They are cheap and may work for you...........or even an espresso/coffee pre-WO. Nick

Caffeine + 1,3 combo products like jack3d or NTKTS are the best for getting that kick, but can always substitute for caffieine tabs or powder (if you have a v. precision scale).

agree with caffeine tabs or coffee pre wo, cheap and effective, will provide energy but not really a pump.

Best Pre-Workout - Due to timing issues yesterday - I spent too long running errands after leaving the house that I opted for a Double Angus with extra cheese and bacon and went super on the meal plus some nuggets or whatever they are called and then went to the gym. Workout was pretty good I am just thankful it was weights not cardio I was doing - however as PWO go it's quite pricey at over £10 per serving! Not sure I';d go this route everytime but every now and again perhaps!
An Alterego is a paradoxical escape.

Banana? Coffee? Caffiene tablets? Energy drink? There's loads of CHEAPER options, but seriously if you want a Pre work out, super pump max is good. Hearing alot on craze too which I'll be trying next. But as above if money's tight save the money for stuff such as whey, food or BCAA's which will give you much more in the way of progress

Any supplement containing DMAA will do the job , Jack3D being the most popular at the moment and one of the cheapest.

Bodyconsciousuk Any supplement containing DMAA will do the job itll get you buzzing, sure, but not everyone wants that in a preworkout, and IMO, its actually counter productive to be heavily stimmed in the gym. some products in the pre work out category are so different, they have nothing in common except the fact they are taken pre workout.

Lol at some of the brutal responses in this thread! I think caffeine tabs is probs the cheapest option for your money really. The anti pre workout sentiment is amazing though lol I train first thing in the morning and am not a morning person - without something I'm like a zombie in the gym!

Just buy a can of cheap caffiene drink or cup of coffee. Prob with the pre-wo supps is often you are paying for ingredients that won't be doing much of anything. Creatine? BA? To say the obvious ones. Each to their own and if you have the money and want to get wired before you train knock yourself out. I know not all pre-wo stuff is that stim heavy, but there us a serious crowd out there that want this.

I agree a lot are filled with fluff ingredients, especially a couple of the most popular. I would add though that actually buying a cup of coffee (as opposed to making your own at home) does tend to cost at least the same if not a lot more than most pre workouts.
