When is too late in the day to go to the gym?

I basically have the problem that three, consecutive evenings during the week are busy, for me, until around 8.30-9.00. My gym opens till 10.00, so I could theoretically still work out, these days; however, I'm wondering if this would leave enough time for post-workout nutrition, given that I have to go to bed at around 11.00. I could be finished by 9.30-10.00, leaving time for my post-workout shake and carbs, and then just about for the all-important post-workout meal; however, I would have to go to bed pretty much straightaway, following this. Would this be a bad idea? I'm thinking it isn't great to have a carb-rich meal straight before bed, but has anyone else been in this position?

If it's when you can do it no probs. Just get in a decent post session feed and kip time. No probs with carbs before bed, particulary after you've trained.

Why not use them as your rest days and perhaps just train the middle day. A few years back I used to work until 10pm and go straight to the gym and train after until about 11.30pm. Only gave me an hour by the time I got there, changed etc. However the gym was usually empty so got around routine quickly due to not hanging around waiting for kit.
