Whey suspended in water for a period of time 20 January 2012 16:25 (permalink)
Hi All
Its a myth that protein degrades in water over time.

On mornings I put 75g of protein in a 1.5l bottle of evian - shake and sip.

Normally lasts me up until 3pm

Anyone else do this?  Any thoughts?

I was curious if that happened with creatine mono in water or mixed in a shake. Shouldnt degrade if left in water should it?

Creatine will degrade in water. However over a short period it won't be a problem. Same with protein. Its not 'myth' unless people are suggesting it's a problem if you don't drink it immediatly!

My only issue is the powder to water ratio - 75g goes into 400ml max for me!
I like mine chilled so prefer to make and consume or put in thermos etc.
An Alterego is a paradoxical escape.

is this refrigerated or at room temp ??

I would think at room temp it would degrade, just like milk would..

Even at room temperate it's still going to be fine for quite a while e.g. morning to afternoon, no porblem.

Whey comes from milk and there is fine in a liquid environment.
But treat it like milk and keep cool.
