Windows Question
16 November 2009 17:35
( permalink)
I got my mum a new hard drive and a copy of windows 7, installed it all and it was all fine but she needs a new graphics card because the resolution cant be changed. I went online to download drivers for the card and still no luck. My question is if i was to get her a copy of xp could i use the copy on win 7 on my laptop or would it already have been registered on her pc ( when i went on the net it downloaded updates from the ms site ) I could get her a new graphics card which would be cheaper but i quite fancy the copy of win 7 for my laptop now Thanks

I think the software is specific to the first computer it's installed on unless you purchased the 'multiple install' version. May be wrong though and stand corrected if I am. You checked the box? If you have a university e-mail address (.ac) you can get Windows 7 for £30 odd.

You should de-activate the old copy if you install it on a new machine. You've bought the license its yours to use on whichever machine you choose. Are you sure the resolution cant be changed because of the graphics card? it could be the monitor cant display that resolution soi you are unable to select it.
