Wrists killing when doing bag work

Just started doing some bag work done the gym... As I am switching from powerlifting to judo/boxing.
 
My wrist kills when throwing a reasonably heavy right hand, I would say mid power.
 
Any tips or exercises to strengthen my wrist?
 
This is not just a technique issue, as I have a long frame (6 foot and 90kg).. And have wrist problems with wrist locks and any pressing, aswell as punching.

alos sounds like you have bad wrists anyway so make sure you do wrap well

Are there any decent boxing brands around or are they all of similar quality.

Looking for some high quality wrist wraps.

Would a pair of decent gloves help? Just been using mid-ranged Adidas ones from the gym.

Xmas is coming up. Some leather Reyes bag gloves (12 oz IIRC) would be sweet.

Yeah Reyes are nice.  Wrapping will help a bit.  How long have you been training with heavy bag work for?

when i have had a break from boxing my wrists always ache when i start back. should dissapear soon enough as long as your technique is ok!!  obviously decent gloves and wraps are essential

Looking to get a few sessions down Peacocks with one of their trainers when money allows.

Can't find a boxing club that will accept someone as old as me (25) down here.. And a lot don't seem to be happy about cross-training (Judo).

Been messing about with bag work for years, but just started putting together some basic drills and footwork/movement (trying to generate basic angles).

Looking at Twins gear. Reyes are a bit steep.

12 oz or 14 oz lads (Tom B)?
 
I was reading 14oz may be better as I am sat on the cruiserweight limit but am fairly powerful due to the powerlifting background.

Also, if I get 14oz could I use them for sparring too when the time comes (not for a good while yet).

ive got twins 14 oz good for all rounds bag and sparring.  good wrist support also

You're gym may recommend 16oz gloves for your height and weight.

I have similar stats to yourself and use 16oz.  (Twins)

They suit me fine for bag, pad and sparring.


With respect to your wrists, I would recommend grip work with gripper.  I think (anecdotally) that this has helped me.
