Disappointing lack of curls there!! How was the pressing? Arm feeling ok? I just had my appointment at the NHS dentist. I don't care how poor I get, I'm never using an NHS dentist again!! Twat!! No concept of patient care, he was abrupt, told me I wasn't actually in any pain. And the waiting room was like the green room on Jeremy Kyle. Never again. Thankfully he didn't inflict too much pain and I got some antibiotics. This might scupper pre-Xmas drinks though.

So just about 12 months to go... hows that 42.5kg coming along? Mmmm reckon I'll need a new pair of wrist wraps next xmass???? How long are you up for xmass hols? We should try and get session in somewhere in that time? Maybe a tad off a mission but I am gona be having a heavy pulling session in one of my gyms in Southampton on the tuesday after xmass. You and LMC are more than welcome down? It'll be at my gym in Calmore. Nice texas powerbars to pull on .. nice! Or I will be doing the odd session down City Gym in Fratton which aint too far from ya?

Well I am up north xmass week. Then I have at least one week of after that. I'll train on the tuesday at one of my southampton gyms. Hoping for some solid weight on the bar so will train a little out of town where the kit is better. Currently plan to do that on the day. Then the new years fun. Then on that Friday I'll be benching with IB down City Gym. Guessing early evening, but whenever he wants to really! Southampton is only a modest train journey away ;)! A good place to get some of the 42.5kg down!

iaink LOL Just read your plan! Not bad, it's got legs! Its got everything mate! Since you twisted my arm I ll say that im in for that tues. LM not so sure though- I think hes getting pissed off with me pestering him to train now! I have no clue what I ll be putting up, but its worth a little look anyways. I ll pull off some blocks next week and if I can get 240 from mid shin then I ll take a whirl at a 235-240. Just out of interest, I think that the main thing holding me back at the moment is some seriously weak abs. I think this because I can actually feel them when I squat and pull at the moment and they often ache the next day. I wanna add in some direct ab stuff to help the lil suckers out, do you have any recommendations? I was thinking hanging leg raise, cable pulldowns maybe?

Any abb work will be cool. Hanging abbs, weighted work. I hope you can make it tuesday after xmass. Dosn't have to be pb time just some good training. Work with me to a top set, bit of down work then some block pulls. If you come down I'll sort bus (short bus ride from train station) and gym fees! Carn't say fairer than that. I lost my phone when I was in the states so lost you number. Give us a txt then we'll have coms over xmass when I'll be sans internet for most of next week!

Some kind of upper- DB press- 10kg x 30 20kg x 15 30kg x 10 40kg x 10 45kg x 9- wtf * 45kg x 6 30kg x 15 Kroc row- ish 30kg x 10 36kg x 10 40kg x 10 45kg x 10 Facepull 15kg x 12 15kg x 12 17.5kg x 12 12.5kg x 12 Reverse fly 10kg x 10 10kg x 10 12kg x 10 12kg x 10 EZ bar curl bar x 20kg x 11, 8, 15 (cheat) Hanging leg raise bw x 8, 8, 8 * Db pressing was very odd, my left hand side just gave up after 5 reps. I lowered the weight an inch or two then blasted it up but this ****ed my attempt at a 12. I think I may have done enough DB pressing, its the only pushing im doing at the moment so maybe next week I ll DB floor press. Id really like to do weighted press ups of some kind but I dont have anyone to put the plates on my back or any chains or anything (I dont like them with bands). Good session, liked the Kroc row thingys a lot. With straps next week I ll shoot for 45lg x 15 next week.

Lower Skwwwwaaaatttt- 60kg x 5, 5 80kg x 3 100kg x 3 120kg x 3 130kg x 3 135kg x 2 140kg x 2 110kg x 3 Rack pull- mid shin* 60kg x 3 100kg x 3 150kg x 3 180kg x 3 190kg x 1 Reverse lunge 24kg's x 10, 10 * I put an aerobics step inside the rack (which has a fixed bottom height, just above the knee) making the bar about mid shin height. The 190 wasnt a max, I just didnt want to do anymore as the bar was murdering my hands (Taro bar has savage knurling). Squats felt good, worked my stance out a tad on the last few sets and it felt a little more solid. The most ive ever squatted is 160kg x 2, so 140 is probably like 85% of a max. Next tuesday I ll be pulling with Iain (that sounds quite gay really) so im not sure if I ll squat or not. My main focus right now is getting my squat up. Its been pissing me off for ages how **** it is. I squatted 140kg x 3 like 3 years ago now and I did 140kg 5 x 5 in the summer without busting a nut. I just dont seem to be getting anywhere 1rm wise. I think this is down to several factors: 1) weak abs 2) using either too many or too few sets at 80-90% 3) being a big fag Not sure what to do about 2&3.

Have a good session tomorrow chaps. Normally I'd jump at the chance of training with a couple of fine lifters as yourselves but at this point in time, I really couldn't give a rat's ass about training!!! Dave - you getting any grief yet from the Nazi's in the gym?

My deadlifting has been **** recently. I ll head up to 210 for a single then see how hard it was. If its easy (should be) I ll head 220. I wanna pull 235 really but im unsure it ll happen! All sounds good to me. Ive been having crazy thoughts about doing snatch grip deads on a small block wearing oly shoes so I can set up better...what do you think?

I find looking back through my journal quite depressing as there have been times when I've had an awesome session and thought I lifted magnificently only to find it was 5-10% less than I'd previously done off-cycle That's why when I start training again I'm just going to make up all the weights I use.....

Good plan. Think roughly what you'd like to pull at the end of those 5-6 weeks ie 220x2 and work back to give you a rough plan. Below is a rough plan that I'd work to over 5 weeks to give you an idea the sort of thing I'd do. Off course you'll have a different idea and know you limits more (maybe lol). 155x5x5, 120x3x3 170x3x5, 130x3x3 185x2x3, 140x3x3 205x2, 120x3x3 220x2 You could then altenate between block pulls and snatch grip pulls as an assistance lift?

Off course you'll have a different idea and know you limits more (maybe lol). 155x5x5, 120x3x3 170x3x5, 130x3x3 185x2x3, 140x3x3 205x2, 120x3x3 220x2 You could then altenate between block pulls and snatch grip pulls as an assistance lift? For the first few weeks deadlifting will be the 2nd exercise after squatting. I dont like pulling reps over a 5 really, especially as I think I need to sharpen up my technique a little so I think what I ll do based on that is: 155 5 x 3, 120 3 x 3 170 5 x 3, 130 3 x 3 190 3 x 2, 140 3 x 3 205 x 2, 120 3 x 3 220 x 2
