Had a job interview on friday and then got totally ****ed friday night, woke up at 10 on saturday in the boot of my car with my car keys outside...
I'm sorry but I'm not letting you get away with posting that and not finishing this tale!!!

Was this another of those boozy rugby nights where you wake up in a strange place with someone's phone number scrawled on your hand and a very sore ring piece??

Lol nah my arse didnt hurt unfortunately, clearly didnt get any action. No idea what happened to me but if any enterprising person had seen a pair of car keys next to an apparantly empty car then im surprised they didnt nick it!

Welsh roid gym not to happy about you deadlifting then?

How you liking 5/3/1? I am using it for bench only and it's working nicely.

Yeah I was a bit surprised actually, I even had matts under the plates. I think its because it was on the first floor and probably had to keep the people downstairs happy. Not to worry though, the aim of this cycle is 200kg x 6 (hit 195 x 6 last week) so as long as I hit that then I dont care!

5/3/1 is going well mate, deadlift the best. Hard to tell with bench, squat and MP as ive been ill a fair bit and its knocked my upper body strength and squat back a bit. Im enjoying the sessions a lot though and I think its been good for me to work in the 3-8 range a bit more as I seem to be totally crap at rep maxes, especially whilst benching.  I also seem to be leaner than I have been for a while...

Nice work Dave. 5/3/1 is pretty good.

Tell them to sod off about putting the bar down gently. I think most places, atleast someone has a problem with people deadlifting.
I get the odd comment, albeit considering in the grand scheme of things im not as strong, the gym has rubber floors and ivanko oly bumper plates!

Yeah well mate ive left my thesis really ****ing late, ive done 3000/20 000 and i have 28 days left, so im a little stressed out.

That game was immense wasnt it, both semi's were good. It is significantly harder than union physically, just look at the match stats for the players. After a 6 nations game last year they were raving that Nick Easter had made 12 tackles, im the World Club Challenge last year the Melbourne Storm loose forward Dallas Johnson made 51...

I was watching the huddersfield game with my future brother in law whos a die hard footy fan but watches the odd union game with me every now and again - even he commented on that in union its so easy to differentiate between forwards/backs, even centers/wings to an extent, but in league the physiques are more similiar, leaner, more athletic. Looks an absolute killer of a game at elite level.

The wolves game had me hooked, its probably the closest league club to me and they were probably the underdogs - amazing game! That Adrian Morley guy is an animal. I was less excited by the second semi as I thought St Helens would walk it tbh but watching beforehand, Huddersfield had won 6 from 6 beforehand?! I don't think I'd have the cardio capacity tbh...

Nick Easter is a mess, I don't rate him unfortunately. I'll definately be watching the final on the 29th though.

As for the thesis, I'm pretty bad at leaving work until the last minute, but I am the king of cram, fortunately I work best under pressure, but no doubt when I've got to do my thesis next year I'll be in an even worse a position.

28days, 17,000 words is doable, just depend on the qualithy get to it my man!

Aye tell me about it, for two seasons my weight was stuck between 88-90kg.

Since April I've put on about 7kg with no noticeable increase in fat. And same as you, am debating having a year out - which kinda suits me anyway as I'll be snowed under with work this year and will be living double the distance away from my club.... and I hate Manchester's buses!

Lol yeah ive kind of come to the conclusion I need to decide which I prefer - playing rugby, getting injured and being in pain from my knees, or training without enforced breaks and being able to walk. In the short term im definitely enjoying walking!

Cheers boys!

Newsflash, today I sucked slightly less at squatting than I usually do. Id rate this performance as a 2/10 as supposed to the usual 1/10.

Squat

60kg x 3
80kg x 3
100kg x 1
107.5kg x 5
122.5kg x 3
137.5kg x 7
100kg 3 x 3 - all with a 2-3 second pause at the bottom
60kg x 10
60kg x 10

High pull from the hang

40kg x 5
60kg x 5
60kg x 5
60kg x 5

Cable abs

60kg x 10
65kg x 10
70kg x 10
50kg x 10

Squats were good tonight, I only did 130 x 7 last week. All were well below parallel, been stretching loads and got into a good place with my stance at the moment. Im still depressed that Im squatting in the 2-300lbs tho.

Deadlift 200 x 6
Bench not too fusses since im dick at benching still after swines, using 120, prob just tripple it
MP 67.5 x 6-8

137.5 x 7 = 170 according to the rep max calculator, all time rep PR is 140 x 8 so thats not too bad. Looking forward to squatting heavier.

Nice squatting Dave. How did the 137.5kg feel compared to last week's 130kg? Ball-bustingly difficult or comfortable enough for an 140kg(+) x 8 attempt next week?

Cheers champ, deload next week but I think the end of next cycle im using either 140 or 142.5.

137.5 felt lighter than 130, bar felt like nothing. Ive been working hard on my set up and since I started training abs like 2months ago its really begun helping my squat form, I find it a lot easier to stay upright now.

Lol aware mate! Whats most annoying is that I squatted 160 4 years ago weighing 70kg, since then I cant put together a solid run at squatting, mostly due to my knees. Im not going to be playing rugby anytime soon, priorities and that!

Dave's doing good...

deadlit

70kg x 5
70kg x 3
70kg x 1
110kg x 1
110kg x 2
150kg x 1

hanging leg raise, 3 sets

Big PR, most Id done on 200 was 200 x 4 and 200 3 x 3 (incidently 200 x 5 was LMC's deadlift record which I have now reclaimed).

200 3 x 3 gave me 230 so hopefully there is a phat PR in the works one day soon!
20kg to go.

Lol fully aware, but im seriously running out of time now so I figure im not going to take a single until I get in as much training as possible. After I hit 210 for 5-6 I think I ll be in a good place to take 10-20kg out of the 42.5.
20kg to go.
