When do you think you'll be doing 500lbs then? :)

Seriously though you'll get 200 this year with a chance of more. So you have a good chance of 500lbs by end of next year I think.

Obviously your in an easier period of gains (no disrepect but your only just getting down to sorting out your squat) so progress will slow at some point. But then your young, dumb and full or someones cum so 500lbs in a year or two should be a focus.

I went from 205 gym pb to 227.5 meet pb in one year during my first year of full meets. That progress shocked the F out of me... in a good way.

Iain - its not just anybodys cum  and I havent even thought about it to be honest. I havent squatted 400lb yet so I ll worry about it after I do that. Im hoping that getting some decent squatting under my belt I might see some carryover to my deadlift too.

Was the benching an easy 3 in line with your planned easy week, a 3 as per 5/3/1 or just 3 for the hell of it?

And 50 chins with your BW plus 10kg must be pretty ****ing heavy by now!!!

It was my '1' of 531, it wasnt especially hard, I couldve done one or two more, but I didnt feel good going into the session so stopped as soon as the reps slowed a little.

I think my periodic shoulder trouble is still really holding back my benching, so im cutting down my pressing volume for a bit and doing a ****load of rehab stuff in the hope that this will lead to some better numbers.

Im 88-89kg at the moment so it was around 100kg. I also started carb cycling two days ago...

I pull more than I push in terms of volume and strength.

My shoulder trouble stems from a torn biceps tendon in my left shoulder when I was 17/18. During my first year of uni it was bad enough that I couldnt push a door open with that arm. Consequently I did zero pressing for about a year and just did a ****load of pulling.

It has since improved, although for about a year every time I pressed around 130 odd id get referred pain in my left tricep near the elbow. Since I started pausing all my benching this has cleared up for some strange reason.

I believe that my left shoulder is basically just pretty unstable. Im not too sure why I havent got round to sorting it out properly, maybe just because Im so used to it causing trouble. It has definitely limited my pushing for years now though. Hence me needing to fix it.

Im planning on doing whats worked in the past - loads of single arm facepulls, press ups, scap retractions, pull aparts, rotations, light single arm DB overheads that kind of thing.

Sounds like you've got it sussed - in my 2 weeks of physio training my clinical reasoning is non-existant, although the fact that paused benching relieves your symptoms makes it sound like one of the structures in your shoulder doesn't like changing directions and contractions quickly.

I guess as long as you cover your bases for scapular stabilisers you can't go wrong. Any direct serratus stuff or do you do scap push ups?

I do scap push ups mainly, I also hang off the chin up bar and pull myself up without bending my arms (what ever that is called).

I agree re: the changing direction. It also ****ing hurts if Im squatting (I squat with a pretty low bar) and I try to push my elbows towards the ceiling (not that I do, but that motion gives me a stabbing pain in my shoulder, down my tricep into my elbow).

I figure im going to try and work some mobility/stability stuff and see what happens.

Try some dynamic blackburns for shouler internal and external rotation. Should find them in youtube. Key is to not rush the movement, feel the movement.
Cant recommend DB protractions enough for serratus anterior.

Some solid work recently mate.

Cheers mate. I think a little time away from heavy pressing is what its going to take to make long term improvements. Unfortunate this is occuring a month before a comp, but on the other hand all my heavy stuff is done now so hopefully it ll work out well on the day.

Bodyweight as of before bed - 85kg...

(I cant lift as an 82.5 in the BDPFA meet, if I had the option then I definitely would do it).

Ive been upping the conditioning and started carb cycling for 2 reasons:

1) My conditioning is letting me down during my squatting and its something I want to correct, plus I enjoy doing it

2) My eating has been ****ing awful to be perfectly honest for the last 4-5 years of uni, inconsistent, junk food etc etc, this is undoubtedly affecting my performance in my eyes.

Im eating literally double the amount of protein on this new plan, the only thing Im concerned about is eating enough calories coming from meat, eggs, good fat and green veg. I may struggle a tad and have to get a lot of liquid calories in.

Id rather be up near 90kg for the meet, but I dont intend on getting up there by eating a load of crap. One of my goals for the year was to be a solid 90kg, something I have never been (89 I think is my heaviest and I was carrying more fat than id like). In this vein hopefully I ll go up a kg or two by then but Im not going to cry if I dont. I ll keep updating my weight in this log henceforth...

What what what! Get eating donuts!!

Remember no 'guts' no glory :)

If your still around the 85 mark come next meet after Brits probably worth dropping to 82 for a meet. Off course unless your pretty ripped it's the 90s for you at some point.

I ll concentrate on 90 first!! I wouldnt rule out the 100's at some stage but it would be a long way down the line and it would take me a good while to go up the 10kg.

Sorting out my eating has been a long time coming so hopefully I might see some size gains from it anyways.

TBH you at an age where you could def grow into the 100's over next few years. Without too major an effort. Bit harder to add good muscle when in 30's as opposed to early 20's.

Just been to see the physio re: knee situation.

His analysis:

My back/hip flexors do all the work when I walk/do anything and my abs and glutes tend to only intervene on the odd occasion when they feel like it. This results in overly tight hips and IT band which pulls on knee cap and gives me knee pain.

Simples.

Thats a good diagnosis in that at least IT band work should aleviate some symptoms. So who do you get the glutes and abbs working while walking.

Mind you in the summer I see plenty of ****less guys tensing all their muscle walking so guess it can be done!
