accutane journal
-
11 October 2005 14:37
Started 20mg accutane 6 days ago. Got chapped lips a bit on day 4. Have had extremely oily skin until today (day 6) and suddenly it's starting to clear, but we'll see if it lasts. Had a very minor breakout on day 3/4 about 4 red spots, that were bumps initially. What I notice is that the pimples are coming out MUCH easier, instead of just forming recurring lumps/bumps all the time. My skin seems a lot smoother on my face, no bumps. My back and arms no difference yet, not sure if 20mg will do the job. Will decide if I up to 40 mg tomorrow, but tempted to leave another week on 20mg and see what happens.

yep got it from my doc. He prescribed 70mg per day, but for now I'm running it 20mg. My lips are quite dry, but fine. skin is noticeably less oily, I kid you not. Also clearer and hardly any bumps on my face. My back and shoulders still the same, I expect I need quite a bit mroe than 20mg to make it work for my back. Currently on 2 weeker cycle, prop 150mg EOD, we'll see how it goes when I come off into 2 weeks nova pct. Last time I broke out 5 days into pct on my shoulders and back, large red lumps. Not nice. We'll see how it goes now. If it happens again, I will simply runa long T enan cycle. At least only one pct, instead of fukin every 6 weeks.

I think 20mg is low ( Im doing that dosage at the moment and have almost no spots , it's just to clear off the rest) but you should not go up with dosage unless your doc has subsrcibed it for you. You say you should be doing 70mg? That seems a lot but I suppose you are quite a big lad then. I disagree with the poster that says it takes ages to work or the one that says it goes worse in the beginning as I suppose it depends with the person. My acne went away on my chine after 2 weeks or so and the rest dissapeared time after time. Be carefull with roaccutane, it can be dangerous at high dosage and if your doing a cycle that requires orals, I'd stay clear as accutane is badly damaging your liver already. Plus avoid sunbathing and too much alcohol

Hey, yep 20mg is low, not sur eif I'll push it up end of cycle. I'm doing prop only, so should have no liver problems. I'm small, only 75kg, doc ordered 1mg/kg, which I way too high i think - I think 40mg at 5-6 months woul dbe fine. Remember though I have back acne which I think takes longer to respond, and requrie smuch higher dosage. I kind of doubt 20mg will help much for back acne. My acne got a bit worse within 2 days, and now after 1 week is fine. On my face that is. On my back, it's as always, got acne. We'll see how it goes. Hardgainer did u have back acne? Thats my main problem, my face has acne, but is ok, although it MUCH better with accutane so far.

he prescribed 70gr and your only 75kg!! is he off his head... no wonder people tend to be depressive and die from it. IMO 70gr is far too much it's half your bodyweight normally. I'm 74kg and used to take 36gr I think or maybe 40gr for the first 5 -6 months. I only had facial acne ( which was quite bad ) so maybe I wouldn't have needed more than 40gr ( like you for the back ) but I recall my doc telling me 40gr was quite a lot already. If I were you I'd go for 40 gr NOW for 5 months BUT remember to do a blood test every month to check your liver. Though you shouldn't be increasing dosage without the doc's advice, if he's telling you to do 70gr, from what I've heard it's too much. You might not see a difference on your back but then I suggest you see another doc for different views. The key with accutane is you need to do it for 12 months at least, if you stop when it seems to have all cleared away, then it will only come back worse after a while. Accutane gets rid off all acne for a period of 10 years. You might have to run another cycle after that, like i'm doing now. hope this helps

I just made a post about roaccutane. Silly and ignorant of me not to even read the messages first. If its ok with you zircon I will post my progress here too. Day 1 (10 days into PCT, nolva), 80mg roaccutane, taken already. Now please will these spots just go. They hurt me when im lifting!. Had to take 2 weeks off the gym because of it. Argh! Started back gym after 2 weeks this week. Not too much strength lost from cycle (which was one thing that was worrying me). Shoulders sore when bench pressing but at least bearable. T shirt was a mess afterwards. Had to wear a jumper through the work out to hide any blood showing, so the sweat didnt help.

ORIGINAL: super_soldier when u start it shud get worse then eventually get better VERY VERY true. In *most* of the cases the acne does indeed get worse before it gets better. This is a clear sign that the drug is starting to take effect. The same thing happens with other acne meds also like topical creams. Zircon, 20mg *will* take ages to take effect mate. From your posts i reckon you're too impatient so maybe uping the dose will be better but bear in mind this: for acne breakouts accutane will do pants! you need antibiotics to control that fast & effectively. I've been using 15mg/day for quite some time now but when i have a breakout i use big doses of amoxicillin for 2-3 days only, and tha's it. I use Accutane for maintenance more or less.

One reason I'm keeping it low is because I want to run a cycle, and I'm not sure accutane at high dose will work well in any case. I def have my work cut out deciding what to do. It really does lower confidence quite a bit if you work out hard, have a good body, and can't show anything off (hide it), because you've got terrible acne. I will probably do one cycle and evaluate - see how it goes. If its bad I'll run the accutane full blast after cycle, until its all gone, and then perhaps a year after that run another cycle. If I get the same experience, then screw AAS.

ORIGINAL: Zircon holy ****...are you for real? U mean the acne is so bad they are popping all over when you work out? I'm starting to egt second thoughts about doign a long cycle. Really. This is (was) my 3rd cycle. My first was 500mg test enenthate 400mg eq per week for 10 weeks. Acne wasn't too bad. Ran a make shift cycle 6 months later, 6 weeks a 100mg of viramone eod. Acne flared up on that and I never really shook it off my back. But this cycle is my longest. 12 weeks 500mg sust 400 mg deca per week, first 3 weeks Nap 50 per day. Got REALLY stronger on this cycle and got great gains. But can't really show it off as it looks like I've been attacked by a swarm of bee's. Swings and roundabouts I suppose. The thing with me my medical is private. BUT my insurance doesn't cover roaccutane treatment after Nov 1st this year. So I have my only chance to clear up my acne so I am never doing AAS again unless I come into money and I can pay to run roaccutane through cycle. So thats it. Got from 13 stone 4 to 15 stone through my cycles. Got as high as 15, 7. Just got to keep as much as possible. ---------- Dropping nolva to 10mg tomorrow. On day 3 of 80mg roaccutane ed and no sides just yet. Feeling a little dehydrated though and I ain't sweating as much I usually do. Anyone get that? Getting a bit of a cold at the moment, so more gains being lost.

ORIGINAL: Zircon I def have my work cut out deciding what to do. It really does lower confidence quite a bit if you work out hard, have a good body, and can't show anything off (hide it), because you've got terrible acne. I feel you there bro, before i went on roaccutane my acne had been severe on my back since i was 17..i just naturally had terrible bacne. Funny thing was my face was crystal clear it was just my back. It gets depressing it really does..the amount of girls I let slip because I was too paranoid of them eventually getting to grips with my back! But i bring you hope bro, I am now free of all back acne since april! I still have scars but they aren't as bad as i thought they'd be! Put it this way i am no longer paranoid to take off my top. To be honest i saw results as quickly as 3 weeks..my back was noticeably smoother and about 60-70% clear (i started off on 35mg for 4 weeks and then upped to 70mg and 85mg for the last month) but then my progress halted because i had gained a lot of weight and was now 85kg but still on 70mg of accutane. So the doc upped it to 85mg and presto no more acne. To the bro who said 70mg is too much..not so. it's generally 1mg per kg of bodyweight but the first 4 weeks they will give you a half doseage to see how your body responds to the side effects. Just have faith man, 6 months down the line and i still have no acne..hopefully this is permanent. Apparently it is in 80% of treatments, and if not then the 2nd treatment is permanent in 95% of cases. You are still in early stages yet..the best results are yet to come. One thing though I think you will need to up your doseage from 20mg eventually. Good luck mate!

hey, Yep, I guess I'll have to up it :( I am currently on 2 week cycle, tren 50mg eod, prop 150mg eod. Already in 5 days the acne kinda flared up again. I think it's the tren, but not sure yet. Still have a 2 week pct after that, and that will probably be annoying. I'm thinking run the accutane 20mg another week or 2, then up to 50, and then try 70. I'm 75 kg at the mo. I was thinking running the accutane then for 3 months 70mg, no AAS. Then in Middle Feb start a 10 week Test E cycle and see how it goes. ****, this acne really sucks. It's terrible lol. Rock, have you done cycles since your accutane? And no flareups? Were you on cycle while running accutane, if so, what were you on? Yes the lips are a bitch. Tea tree oil seems to work best though. But I'm only on 20mg lol, I'd hate to see 70mg, holy ****.
