You will have a hard job getting accutane off your GP. Accutane is a powerful and expensive drug which is only used by doctors as a last resort. Your doctor will try and fob you off with antibiotic cream or tablets. Before any GP will issue accutane you have to have blood tests to check your liver you will also start off with a very low dose then they will do more blood tests and up the dose if need be. To be honest unless your acne is very very severe you wont get accutane , unless you have a very understanding GP. This is why most guys buy it themselves. Oh and Proviron will do bugger all for acne. Aromasin is a AI which stops estrogen which in turn stops acne try this at either 12.5 mg or 25 mg a day.

Angel fan is right your gp will recommend oral or topical antibiotics first to settle it down. Accutane will be a last resort. Personally i would try sunbeds one or twice a week for 6mins that always helps with mine. And a benzoyl peroside cream ie quinoderm or the over counter oxy 5/10 stuff

A good combination commonly pescribed is tetracycline- Oral antibiotics Isotrex- topical gel Benzyl peroxide- Bleaching cream In combination this works really well to reduce acne and I've had used it myself. Accutane has been linked to depression amongst other sides. I would go for the milder option before going down the accutane route. Pescribed meds are IME much better than the off the shelf and they are free. Here in Wales anyway.

Ive heard a few people saying they get flare ups post cycle... any reason why this is? Is it something to do with estrogen rebound?

Yes you get flair ups post cycle due to a inbalance in your hormones and the fact your estrogen is high. This is why Aromasin helps because it kills estrogen.

Some over the counter stuff is OK, I think "OXY" specialise in male antiacne. I wouldnt recommend sunbeds to anyone mind.

if it were me, I would forget OTC treatment, forget the doctors and source accutane yourself....there are plenty of places to get it and IME the horror stories of all the potential sides are just that...stories! It can work out pricey self medicating but the stuff works!

Cool, I was refering to the recent classification of sunbeds as "human carcinogen" hence why I wouldn't recommend them.

i do agree with you to an extent re sunbeds thing is a joke an 15 year old can walk into a hairdressers/gym and use a tanning bed. Alot are highly unregulated and a joke. But however there are good ones in existence. One i use restricts you to so many sessions based on skin type, if fair skins you are restricted to milder strength sunbeds ie not the 250-300watt ones. And is strictly no under 18's. You are also not allowed to buy tokens more than 6mins worth. But however problem we have in this country is not all sunbed establishments are the same. read this http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/4739711.Mother___s_warning_about_dangers_after_moles_found/?ref=rss only time i use them are post cycle as during me pct and week or two after me hormones go nuts and i get spots on me back on neck which aint nice.

Unfortunatley there are no good or bad, they all put you at risk to a varying degree. The unregulated thing is a good point tho.
