There are so many laptops and so many retailers it'd take hours, but on ebuyer.com you tend to get what you pay for. pick a bunch of £399 ones and compare the spec.

If its purely specs you are after then acer would probably be your best bet. I picked up an i5 with 8 gig of ram before xmas for £500. Keyboard is a bit nasty but other than that its pretty good.

As above though, you should be getting an i5 with about 6gb ram and 500+GB space on your hard drive.

Can see plenty of I5 laptops for £399 with 4gb/500gb Ebay items; 270896228337 or 270899243033 or 120848945722 Not sure you'll get much better than that for the money. Depends on how much you want to shop around and snag a bargain if it comes up. Check the dell outlet, keep scouring ebay, HotUKDeals. £4Gb ram is 15-20 quid. If you see a deal with a bigger say 750gb drive but 4gb ram vs 320/500gb drive and 8gb ram i'd go for the bigger drive if you need the space. Cheap to upgrade the ram, HDD prices are currently through the roof
Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak
