i started training at 25, iv always wanted a go at strongman and the last two years have been training for it because i find iit hard to cut but find it easy to stuff on weight lol, so i said sod it get fat and strong and be happy with my body, now one of the strongest blokes in my gym and having a go at some comps this year get a feel for it and if i do well i might have a go at uk / england or britsh strongman in the next few years, im 29 now so my plan is to aim for worlds by the time im 34 35 ish, i know im aiming high but i feel as if i can do it, after all the guys who lift very heavy are only humen after all lol, just love the idea of being one of the strongest blokes in the world lol, although my training and diet is still shakey but i feel this year is going very well so far, probly boor you to death now  lol  thats my story.

    cheers mat spence.

I started training about 6 months ago i was 20 then just turned 21 on the 13/03

main reason was always watched world strongest man and always kinda wanted a go, so i went to the gym and a guy who works at the gym who is a bodybuilder (carl mcvitie) said i was quite strong for my age, so i looked a little more into it then randomly had a go in a powerlifting comp after 2-3 months of training then was hooked....going to do my first comp this year in strongman at the severn valley first timers comp so will see how that goes.

main aims would be to be competing in BSM by 23-25 then worlds by 26-28 like mat aiming high but if you dont try you dont get

Started training in my mid/late 20s, about 5 years ago.  Silly as it may sound to some, one of my main motivations was & still is proving that you can be big & strong as a vegan.  I quite often get told 'you don't look like a vegan' & I take this as a compliment!

Only really started getting into powerlifting this year. I'm well behind everyone else on this site, but getting there.

Main motivation - I love lifting heavy weights, simple as. Plus, I really want to get competetive one day... looks too much fun

Started training at about 12, got into a proper gym at 15 1/2 and then started strongman 2 years later. First competition was the week before my 18th birthday.

Turn 22 at the end of May and strongman has been one of the best things I've done. Taken me all around the country and also just competed at the Amateur World Championships at the Arnold Classic 2010.

Aim is to get to World's in 2015, looking forward to the journey!

I've trained in a real Gym for only 3-4 months of my training life (which is about 2.5 years so far). Initially it was in order to shape up slightly to get bigger and shed some fat. Now I care less about the fat and size, and more about the power and strength.

I want to have a go at Strongman in the long term, but I'll be building my base and some experience with Powerlifting along the way... and I'm very happy with my progress in the past few months alone.

Besides - what kind of man doesn't want to be bigger and stronger?

I decided to try strongman this year (19 just gone january), I love pushing myself to that next level through mental and physical barriers and strength training provides me with this extremely well. I've always been keen on the strength side of things. I hope to one day compete but a lot of hard work needs to be done before I get there.

i more or less started when i was 19 i just always loved being strong i was never really into the whole pretty boy aspect of working out involving cutting and what not i never was concerned about getting a 6 pack i was concerned about how much i could more i could DL, squat, and bench ive always just loved causing a huge ruckus in the gym lifting heavy and more or less got into strongman because people told me i couldn't do it so my goal was to set out to prove them wrong and on top of that i love it its one of those things once you start you can never kick the habit

Started training around 4 years ago , saw viking power traing dvd and thought that looked fun done a few local comps the past 3 years. Now have tyres 350-500,yoke,logs,farmers,conans wheel, set of stones, stones platform, hussafelt stone, axle all sitting in my driveway much to my wifes delight. Missed alot of comps i was planning this year due to overseas work breaking my right foot , going to hopefully try scottish qaulifier next year after a hard winters training. Love the sport
