JC: The FAME Fitness Model Search was held on Saturday 23rd April 2005 in the NEC Birmingham as part of SENI05 (
www.senishow.com), a huge martial arts exhibition. The whole exhibition hall was packed with martial arts enthusiasts, fight fans, fitness enthusiasts and models. FAME UK was organised by Nicole Bremner, who you know as MT moderator 'Nikki' with help from another popular MTer Gymbabeliz. Steve and I were invited to help judge the FAME event, and we also made the day into means to promote MuscleTalk.

SB: PHHHHew ... what a long day! Just returned home after an exciting day out at the FAME Fitness Model Search at the NEC in Birmingham. James and I had the unenviable task of judging some great competitors displaying their figures and lots of hard work … oh what a hard life! The guys all looked great and the amount of preparation and dedication was clear in all the competitors across the categories. The great thing about the FAME show is that it gives those who are not 'out and out' bodybuilders a chance to compete in a show where the judges are looking for a 'sportier' look over the text book bodybuilding monsters. The competitors took to the stage in 3 categories: the Swimwear, Sportswear and Evening Wear sections giving them an opportunity to shine physically and show some creativity … and they didn't disappoint!
The two eventual winners were both in great shape, had great stage presence and a well chosen wardrobe. Great to see Ross Mendham (aka MT member Mendy5) flying the flag for the MuscleTalk boys! Well done Ross and good luck in the future.
The day provided James and I the chance to promote the site and hand out flyers. The reaction was great from the general public! New members a plenty I say!
Our own MuscleTalk female mod Nikki put on a great show and the day ran very smoothly with all the competitors enjoying a good day out. I would recommend this type of show for anyone looking to get into fitness modelling or as a stepping stone to a bodybuilding future and certainly made me think about ditching the pies and hitting the stage... well I can dream cant I?!
Anyway to sign off from a long day I would just like to thank all the guys at FAME along with Nikki and Gymbabeliz for their hospitality. To check out the FAME, the website address is www.fameevent.com
I tried to get James up to enter the competition to represent the MT mods but he declined telling me he needed a few more days conditioning before he could hit the stage ... maybe next time hey James? Now there's a challenge for you!

JC: All, without exception, competitors were in excellent shape. Judging was hard, because, as a bodybuilder, I like to see muscles, yet for this sort of look, being over-muscular-could count against you. However, acknowledging the whole package, I still felt the more muscular competitors were more pleasing, even for the 'fitness look'. Two of the competitors Kester Roomes (1st) and Helmut Stebl (2nd) were very muscular and would have looked great in a bodybuilding show, Helmut (38 years old from Austria) in particular had exceptional definition with cross striations - a lot of hard preparation there and I was very impressed.
Some of the girls too, had great muscularity notably Alex Fowler (1st) and Nina Eljaer (another prominent MT member Philia2 from France).
The competitors were:
Ladies:
Alex Fowler - 1st Lee Carey - 2nd Elesa Argent - 3rd Nina Eljaer Kathryn Latham Renata Kundri Trina Carter Simmy Wilson |
Men: Kester Roomes - 1st Helmut Stebl - 2nd Tony Wilson - 3rd Ross Mendham |
