benchpress help stuck at 140kg

Hi. hope im posting in the right column. My Question/dilema. Ive been training for many yr's but due to personal setbacks with no gym at all for such a long time, im now just getting into a full routine again since end of jan just gone. Ive alway's trained naturally bodybuilding style & no doubt i will again regain my past strength muscle endurance(im sure i will lol's) Problem was & guess still will be once i reach my prievious goal's is that my bench press is not very good in terms of strength, i work all muscles with pretty good form & certainly able to target the muscle under tension, but i just cant seem to get past 140kg on my benching for 4-7reps compared to squat (just below parallel) 225kg for 11reps & have done on only 2 occasions worked upto 265kg & 300kg (for1rep no suit no knee wraps) deadlift although to be honest not as regular i should but can pull 220kg 7-10reps i just would like to blast past the 140kilo mark please note, its not a lack of tricep strength development as i can triple drop for total around 60reps 145(ish)1b 20rep 130 20rep 110 20rep & simular on other tri movements so i cant see how i can not push past this sticking point. Your advice or maybe even a strength bench press routien maybe in order im not sure, Thanks for reading.

What your saying is you have tricep endurance , dont mean they are strong, do you tuck your elbows in when benching.

Hi jstar sorry i was reffering to dbell tri ext on the triple dropset & tri pushdown good form 100kg for around 25/30 reps, I dont tuck elbows in either on benching, they stay parallel so Your saying tucked in may help the problem.

Yes tucking them in helped me alot , and a good pair of wrist wraps.

Anthropo Morphism thanks for reply. Well looking forward to putting into practice with then that & wrist wraps never used them before Thanks for advice. No probs , what helped me alot also was doing a few partial reps with say 10kg more than my max after last working set , to get used 2 the higher weight.

My weakest lift is Bench. I can deadlift heavy and squat heavy... but bench? I feel like a right dweeb. So following advice from some users on here... Ive done more tricep iscolation, and my bench has started to improve already. You can never have "complete" triceps I guess... just got to keep workin and workin them. Throw in some dips, some french presses, some dumbell overhead presses, some dumbell kickbacks.... will see you right quickly within a month or so. Strength comes quick. Might not give you your goals overnight, but you'll notice a slight increase in no time.

Whether you need to isolate triceps more depends on where you are failing or are strong. If you are weak at the bottom but can lock out, triceps may well be fine, and its chest and back you need to work on and conversely trouble locking out could indicate tricep issues. I recently followed the blast your bench program by Lee Hayward and for 12 weeks I didn't touch my triceps, the only work they had was from the various benching done and yet I managed to push my single up considerably...
