Agreed, all the best guys IMHO take everyday stuff you know but it never registers in such a manner ,they then highlight it and point it out,its funny cos its true and that you knew but never realised if that makes any sense

Michael MacIntyre is good but his stuff isn't new. Watch his old stuff, watch him host Live at the Apollo, then watch his live at Wembley and you will see very little new material. Peter Kay is funny but again, no new material. Thats why I love Lee Evans personally - he does lots of big venues with completely new material lasting over 2 hours. Some people don't find him funny as he is a bit slapstick in a way but I think he's very clever. I've seen Jimmy Carr live and he is a very clever man, but also 70% of his jokes are about either paedophilia/underage sex or rape! He also just does quick punchlines and so you don't get the good build up of a story you can relate to as well, with a great punchline. So you get laughs but not major laughs like some other comedians give. mcl

Dylan Moran is probably the funniest stand-up I've ever seen, the guy is just so naturally witty. Lee Evans is absolute tripe, his material is so lacking he tries to make up for it by being massively hyper-active. Cringeworthy. http://www.youtube.com/...h?v=tlJ3k6iAvcE&NR=1

Russell Brand by a country mile...then McIntyre...then Gervais. I think there is many more funny people but more in a quiz show funny...like Rob Brydon, David Mitchell and Jimmy Carr(who's stand-up is rubbish). Russell is in a league of his own from the ones I've seen...he has a few cringe worthy moments, but he has so many moments that make me laugh loads...his 2nd stand-up is probably the best...all 3 are very good...his first starts off a bit slow....ponderland is also spot on, it's actually ridiculously funny..he's been hilarious on every big fat quiz of the years he's been on and re-branded was also very funny. His best material is supposedly on his radio shows as well...too buy the best bits on CD is still pretty pricey..I will get them though. here is a good solid 5 min stand-up of Russell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1uhmnNnmL8

I forgot about Rhod Gilbert I think he's amazing too :D And Kevin Bridges , I just remember him to :) there are quite a few good stand up and all in their unique way, I do admit alot use the same material if you watch them a lot.

my favourite stand up atm is Rhod Gilbert aswell but Russell Howard is a close second. Russell Brands book is easily the funniest book ive ever read. the best stand up of all time is 'Richard Pryor Live in Concert', un-fcuking-beleivably funny, i was in stitches the whole way through, seriously watch it.
