bodybuilding nutrition on a tight budget 02 February 2012 21:42 (permalink)
Hey guys.. money is tight at the moment so trying to pack on the muscle on a budget.. too be honest carb sources are pretty cheap..such as rice and pasta.

But could you give me cheap protein sources or any bodybuilding foods which are on offer.. such as fish, milk etc... I have fultons, iceland, morrisons, sainsburys and asda in my town. I live in the west yorkshire area... thats bradford, leeds, keighley if that helps.

any other suggestions would be great and highly welcome. :)
thank you

Protein powder normally works out cheaper than food but I suppose it's not going to fill you up like food.

I normally get 15 eggs from iceland. Sainburys tuna is decent 75p a tin though IIRC. Chicken from the butchers works out at £5.50 a kilo at my local, might be worth giving that a try.

Frozen white fish iceland pollack - 700g for £3 - 25g protein per fillet

Mince always cheap and good deals

      Chicken livers about 70p

      Quark, cottage cheese, eggs

      milk 2 x 2 quid etc

Just write out what you want to eat, then go bargain hunting

Buy cheaper meats, get home brand condiments / table sauce instead of expensive one etc

The reduced aisle will be a good bet.

As mentioned, own brand everything you can, just watch for salt content. Frozen mince, fish, chicken breasts and livers are cheap. You can get huge bags of powdered oats if you want to go bulk on the carbohydrate.

Dont you have a Makro nearby? they do huge trays of chicken really cheap and there must be a Lidl/Aldi somewhere in the vicinity?
