Sorry to hear you've not been well. Can be a tough time after competing as the body can just give up and that's when you're susceptible to illness.  And don't get me started on the weight gain after a show!!

definately something, its a long time since i have been ill, and i dont think anything has ever kept me out of the gym for this long!

Inspired by your back routine I finished off my back session a couple of days ago with a 'pump-set' of straight arm pulldowns.....Good God...my lats have been on fire since!

Glad you are back at it!

Re:Dazc competing today (Sunday) at the Leeds UKBFF - 01 December 2009 17:46
right, so the dates for the ukbff shows are out, i now need to decide what to do.

I really want to do at least 2 shows next year, BUT i need to spend as much time gaining mass as possible, so dont really want to do them to far apart.  The fact i want to do late shows, rules nabba out (the categorys dont suit me anyway).  what do people think of doing 2 ukbff shows in the same year??  does it look desparate and a bit wrong?  or can they be considered shows in their own right, even though they are all qualifiers?

shows i could potentially do-

5th sept- leicester
19th sept-birmingham
26th sept-leeds

the leeds is my home show, and the one where i would have support, and the one i really want to do.  but if i just aim for that one, then it rules out doing another, unless by some remote chance i qualify for the brits.  Could travel to one of the other ones, and use it as practice for the leeds i suppose.  But still not sure what people would think of someone doing two qualifiers? i know people do it, but im not sure what i think about it?

what do people think??

anyway, while i mull it over, im off to smash my legs to pieces  :-)

well legs have been done! not posting the numbers or training,as it wasnt very much at all!!

have twinged lower back a little, pushing too hard on squats, then going onto SLDL.  Lower back has given problems for years, think it will have to split squats and SLDL onto seperate days again, as doing them back to back is proving too much for the back

I think there's nowt wrong with doing two shows for them at all, they're such a big organization, you'd be mad not to!

With regards to your back, do you do any specific lower back strengthening without weight such as back extensions or hypers?

two shows it is then, unless lots of people suddenly say i shouldnt! haha, now that leaves another decision, as close together as possible, little gap, or big gap!

i do hypers occasionally, i know i should pay more attention to the little things but im ashamed to say i often forget!

I also have exercises given to me by rachel (shes a biomechanics tutor) that im supposed to do, but i kind of only remember to do them when its hurting as well!

Nothing wrong with doing more 2 or even 3 shows in the same year.
In your position i would do the leicester show, then it gives you 3 weeks to improve for the show you really want to do.

100kgx9

w pull downs
50kgx6

db rows
47.5kgx10  2 sets

db preacher curls
30kgx10
32.5kgx7

waaaaaaay different to my normal workouts, but wanted to kickstart the training again.

i'd say have two shows close together if possible, have one as a trial and then aim to peak for the second.

or

peak for the 1st show and experiance trying to hold onto conditioning, maybe coming in tighter for the 2nd show

with regards to peptides and slin

how do you see yourself going with these meds in the future?
IMO they are quite high level stuff, do you see yourself on things like IGF-1, HGH, slin in higher doses in the future?

hi mate, i know they are seen as high level, but i have experimented with most.  Im really not cut out for bodybuilding genetics wise other than good shape so i have to work harder than most to see any results, but my health comes first, which is why i wont use fat burners, thormos or diuretics in show prep.   Slin i will never use, its as far off the cards for me as possible.  ESPECIALLY after the reactive hypo i had last week, just not worth the risk.

HGH i have used a bit and quite like, though the results are small. igf a couple of times BUT i wont use again, the results arent worth the unknown and unquantifiable risks, and i have had conversations with people heavily involved in their lab use and development who expressed BIG concern over the heath risks particularly to the prostate.  I wont personally use GHRP2/6, CJC or GRF.  GH release declines later in life anyway, who knows what effect forcing the body to release way more than it would naturally will have down the line.  same goes for the other 'research' peptides.

i know people attribute gains to them, but from experience the gains are tiny, to the point it could well just be optimism or placebo.  others may disagree.  We know the risks pretty well from gear, and HGH.  the rest is unknown, and i value my heath too much!  I love bodybuilding more than anything, it dominates my whole entire life, BUT im not willing to do it at any cost!

i take AAS, but i wont go higher than the dose i use now, and its alot less than alot of people.  I will use HGH as and when i can afford it, but for me thats it drugs wise.

Aiming high next year dazc ,all guns blazing .
What class are you going for ,and how close are you to the limit of it?.

I have done two shows close together (2 weeks apart) it was hard but i did come in better on the 2nd one.
Are you getting help with prep as it will be hard to keep on top of all the things that need to be worked out with prep.

got to aim high mate! realistically, i know that its unlikely, BUT no point shooting for another 3rd place is there! i already have one of those shaped metal figures! lmao!

im gunning for the under 90's class.  i came in this year at 78.5 (i think), but needing another couple of pounds off.  BUT i lost some muscle in the early part of dieting as i had no help, and wasnt intending on doing a show!  at the moment, im just over 90kg and pretty good condition, so reckon i would come in about 82 with where i am at the moment, nowhere near heavy enough, but i have another 6 months-ish before show prep starts.  im aiming to come in at 85, so that means adding just over a pound a month.  tall order, but not beyond possibility.

the year after, i want to be as close to 90kg as possible, which should give me as decent a shot as possible to win a regional!

Oooer, we are on a roll now aren't we

I'd say about 3 weeks is a good gap is you want a short rest. Enough time to get rid of the water rebound and "normalising" the rest of your body but also enough time to tighten up providing you go straight back on diet after no more than a day off and then not being too silly with food intake!!

usually do more sets than that though!  and have done a fair bit more weight as well, but im going to start pusing the weight again, alternating between higher reps, and heavier weight.  id like to make it back to my better benching days of 155 for 10.
