dazc feel like my whole life has fallen apart right now, i have no real focus, and my goals are now distant memories. i dont feel involved with bodybuilding now, and i hate it. need to find something so i can still be a part of the sport, if im not competing. dont know what though :-( Hope your ok bud i can understand why you mussed be pissed, just when you seem to nail it and get everything in place RE competing etc this happens. Well you'll be back daz remember that, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and all that. Oh and if your looking to find a way of being more involved now you can't train you can help me on my cut Things are going good, but i could do with advice from guys like you who have actually done it properly

still in lots of pain, though it does seem to be easing slowly. having the cast is causing me some shoulder problems, as is putting the RC muscles under tension, and pressing on the nerves in the shoulder. once i can lift the weight of the pot without pain, i need to start some regular stretches and mobilise the shoulder

Why don't you go vounteer to be a UKFBB judge? Just a thought... and a good way to get the inside scoop on how decisions are made... :-) Chin up chickie and look at it this way, you have a passion that lots competing don't have. And because of that you WILL achieve your dream. Perhaps not just as quickly as you originally thought :-)

That's great on legs, it's very rare a persona would tak the opp to train a weak bodypart twice a week so it's fine that yours is enforced by your bicep tear. I think you'll look back in a year's time and be really surprised on the positive effect this has had on you. HONESTLY.

Dazc, sorry to read that you're feeling the way you do but it's no doubt post op blues. You have a temporary set back and that is it, it's not the end of you being involved in bodybuilding. It's comp season soon for most feds so get along to as many comps as you can and eye up the competition. Keep going to the gym to feel part of the environment and buck up or I'll come and duff you up!!

cheers kitty IB- a few weeks out from a show would have been devastating. this has been hard to deal with, but close to a show when youe expecting to do well, im not sure even i would have come back from that pain is finally starting t ease, havent had painkillers today, and its better than 2 days ago when i was on dihydrocodeine and paracetamol! looking forward to getting the hinged pot a week on thursday, then i can bend it a little. hoping to get a light legs session in the end of this week as well

well, one week in. and 5 days post op. arm is feeling alot better, little pain now, though wrist feels very sore in the cast. weight has dropped one pound, but condition has slipped a bit as well so weight not telling the full story. diet has been very high calorie though, so not really suprising. abs are definately lookin alot softer, logs and shoulders havent changed too much. cast is loose now, so i would guess i have lost a good half inch off the arm in just over a a week. one more week until i get a hinged cast so hopefully that small movement will slow down the rate of muscle wasting. still cheesed off, missing training, and feel very out of shape already.

I hope all goes well bud and things keep getting better as time goes on,and time is the thing on your side with you young pups . Do you have any idea of how your arm is going to look yet, when things are better? As for doing something in body building ,with almost 14000 posts you have more than a little advice to give someone starting out in BB.,maybe you just need the ticket and off you go in your free time. All the best Daz

It's good to hear you're on the mend now. It will take time but you will be back :) And next time someone is complaining about DOMS or some piddly injury, you can start the whole story "Injured? Pah! I remember the time..."

The cast could also be loose because swelling has reduced, not necessarily muscle loss.

have recieved alot of help, advice and nice messages of support since i tore my bicep off. but the latest one has blown me away, tony barnes, from savant and udo's distributor emailed me yesterday. today i recieved a box of udos oil!! that someone would do that is amazing. i will be using the stuff over the coming weeks and feel positive it will help, as i have read alot about it. just had my first serving on my rice, really nice subtle flavour!

Still struggling to accept not competing this year. pretty much everyday i look at the show dates and work back in my mind through diet, gaining size back etc etc. everytime i come to the same conclusion, that it cant happen. i just cant seem to accept it for some reason. its all i thought about since leeds last september. its really getting me down.

that is a very nice thing for tony to do for you. i am sure it will help. As for competing look at this way you will be able to compete in 2011 bigger and better than you would have this year. by the time you are mended you will have a full year to add some serious size(just to upper body) and a nice 18months (for legs) before prep starts again. unlike this year where you were going to 6-8months at best. Good luck i hope you are back lifting again soon!!

Must be tough, mate. there'll be alot affecting your mood.... from the very obvious disappointment of recent events down to the finer changes within your endocrinology (is that a word) from not training and having that adrenaline and endorphine release. Is there some way you can challenge or focus yourself to give you the buzz back? Can be as close or as far removed from BBing as you want really, just something to give the feeling of achievment/improvement etc anything to channel yourself into

not sure mate, training is really the only thing that i get a buzz from. am learning some more indepth anatomy and physiology. may also siy a level 3 PT course, some S&C courses, and some biomechanics stuff to keep myself busy. doubt i will ever use it in a profesional capacity, but never know. nothing can really replace training for me though. still looking for other ways to be invlved with the bbing scene this year as well

Goooo UDO's!!! If you've lost weight it's prob just a bit of glycogen from the muscle that you get from not training, stop analysing, you just need to keep nice and calm and get your head around it all And good for you doing those courses! It might help you manage your own training better which you'll be raring to get back to!

Chin up mate, its just one of those little set backs in life that gets thrown at you. End of the day, at least you still have your arm, you can re build the muscle lost once its fully better to probably bigger and better before, muscle memory is amazing as you know! Imo take some time off, maybe just nail legs twice a week so that next year come stage time, you have the wheels of an ifbb pro lol

Nice one Tony I love Udos, as you say it's nice on rice but I love it on baked potatoes more it even makes cauliflower taste better. Good idea about studying might give you more ideas for training and you never know, might get you started in a new profession

Doh, forgot to check it came through!! Glad it's arrived safely with you, keep me posted. Just to update you on the other lad who tore his arm that went on Udos, John Buckland (reason I thought we could help you!), is now nearly 100% recovered. I spoke to him briefly on friday and he's about 6 weeks ahead of schedule on his recovery - he went to 1 physio session and got told what to do, went to the next and was told he didn't need to do anything more, suffice to say his consultant was blown away and has written a letter to the effect. John didn't use any pain killers/anti-inflamms at all, just diet. He said he's going to write up what went on, so I'll drop you a copy when he does. As above - chin up!!
