I have started a new diet, about 3 weeks ago, which is a higher protein, lower carb diet. I get about 1g per lb of BW and around 40g carbs. I am having trouble hitting calorie targets though. Any suggestions? Here is the issue for me... I had to have my entire colon removed 2 years ago. I lost 30 pounds and tried to gain it all back and did, however the weight is sitting around my waist which is the reason for the diet. Anyway, I dont absorb things like a normal person and cant eat nuts.. I know I should probably go to a dietician but i figured i would see what you guys thought.

kinda hard to suggest from what you have told us. What is your bodyweight? approximate fat percentage? age? height? all this will affect a diet so we need to know. and are you taking in 40g of carbs per day or per meal? could you list your current diet with timings and timings of specific activities i.e Sleep, Training (if you are training) Vapor

29 years, 175lbs, 5'9, about 20% BF. 40g per day. 2 whole eggs and 9 whites around 8am protein shake around 1030 grilled chicken breast or fish steak (depends on what I want) preworkout shake Dinner is usually grilled meat like pork, chicken, steak My gastro system can get testy sometimes. Not having a colon makes diet life a bit touchy. Basically i just watch my carb intake and try to maximize protein. I work out on Monday (chest, shoulders), Wednesday (back, traps), Friday (Arms) and Saturday (Legs). 30min cardio ED. 8 hours sleep.

do you have any dietary recommendations given to you after the op? you have to remember that it does take a while for your body to adjust, i would advise you to go and see the dietician who will have access to all of your notes and be in a much better position to assist with putting a diet together as i could only offer guidelines. you could go through trial and error but it would be better with the support of a dietician who can advise you first hand too.

not really.. The doctor said everyone is different in what they can handle. He pretty much said eat what i wanted to so i could determine what i was able to eat. I do know nuts are not good. I have emailed a dietician so hopefully I can get my nutrition back on track. thanks for the help.

its hard to advise given your circumstances but generally somebody with your stats i would tell them to consume : 2000-2200 kcals per day, 145 grams of protein, 250 grams of carbs, 50 grams of fats, split these between 5 meals per day, but due to your colon being removed id suggest smaller portions so 6 meals and if you can 7 meals would be better. obviously 7 meals would have to be 1 every 2 hours to 2 and a half hours. Then again it might not be so difficult as the portions will be really small. you would need per meal (based on 7) 20g Protein, 35g Carbs, 7g Fats. but i cant suggest any foods for you as i dont know what you are able to stomach.
