has anyone had one. Is it bearable or is it worth getting sedated.

Definitely get sedation. I decided to have mine without and it was a truly horrific experience. I wouldnt go through it again for £1000 Its not a tiny camera being gently eased down your throat, its a rather thick tube and not pleasant at all. I know a few others who have gone without sedation and said the same.

Not pleasant, but not as bad as some people make out either - at least in my experience. I got a spray which helped. It feels weird when it goes down the throat - you have to not gag, but when you get past that stage the worst is over. I could feel the cut of the biopsy being taken from my stomach and that was OK too. It feels like a big lump in the throat once the tube is down. You just have to hold your nerve that couple of seconds it takes to go down the gullet.

my experience was the same as darth, not very nice when the tube is going down your throat. but once it's past that bit it wasn't that bad at all.

Incredible Bulk work mate said it was pure hell either have a rubber bit in the gob and pipe fed thru and down the throat.... constant gagging and feeling of choking. or be put under That is exactly what is was like for me. I was lying on my side and my stomach was wretching to the point of quite bad pain. Felt like I couldnt breath at all and was going to pass out. GF is due one soon and is going to demand she gets knocked out. Thats what I would do to be honest if I needed another. Although death doesn't seem as bad an option now!
