Out of all people I have in my friends list I would say I am close to about 10% - the rest are people i went to school with, used to work with. I sometimes think about just removing everyone who I dont speak to however part of me thinks "no because I knew them once and its nice to see what they are up and get up to" - I also dont sometimes post stuff on facebook because I think twice how it will go down - I know the ideal situation would be to create groups so only those I want to see stuff see it but at other times I think whats the point just delete them...does anyone think about this ever?

You can create friends lists.
Create 2 - real friends, and people from the past.
Maybe an extra one if you have parents or work colleagues on.

Then set the permissions for each one. You can set it so some lists don't see status updates or photos, or only certain photos, etc.

Very useful.
I like to keep in touch with people I went to uni with, or worked with. But I don't necessarily want them knowing everything about me.

There is a real annoying guy I added off here pestering me for sex all the time but hes not offering me nearly enough money so I think I'll relegate him to the faux-friends list for a while.

I have people from my old work that I don't really want on there but I think it would be rude to just delete them.

I don't post photos on there much as don't really want everyone seeing my business.

I know you can set permission but they don't work that well. If one person is tagged or comments on one of your photos, all their friends can see it even if it is set to be private to them. Unless they have changed it lately?
