have i sprained my ankle?

hi guys yesterday night whilst playin footy someone fouled me and i fell awkwardly on my ankle. yesterday my ankle was swollen and did hurt, today there is swellling but only abit but it hurts even more than yesterday. Will this just heal by itself, i hope i am ok for monday welll enough to walk to get to work as now i am struggling to walk i cant put much weight on my left ankle. What do you guys think. thanks

No one can diagnose a sprained ankle on the internet mate.

If it hurts, feels stiff, is swollen, you may have done some ligament or muscle damage.

Keep the weight off it today and tomorrow. Strap it lightly if necessary.

Chances are you will survive.

Its a really bad break, you will never walk again!

lol its not that bad, as long as i can walk abit more quicker for monday il be more than happy

Prob as inversion hard to say without seeing it,treatment will be the same Rest,ice ,compression and elivation

I was watching a thing on a guy who got his leg damaged by a bomb. Pain killers had stopped having any effect and he was just sick to death of the pain. Doctors had done all they could.
His leg was still useable to a degree, just badly scarred and very painful.

He made the brave decision to have his leg amputated yesterday to stop the pain.

Might be worth doing the same mate

Varies person to person tbh,3-4 days till full weight bearing,1 week of slight twinge and about 2weeks till full recovery till you cant feel anything is the norm.

Keep putting it thru full range of movement while its elivated

In 97% of cases it never heals and within 5 years the injury results in a painful death from Necrotizing fasciitis.

ignore the jokers on here mate, I myself sprained my ankle last evening and can understand what your going through. If your not sure its sprained, go onto facebook and ask on your status thingy, thats what i did. Turns out it isnt ust sprained but im also a fairy too!

i had writen a day by day account, but got kicked off when i pressed send - so heres quick version

day 1 to day 7 swollen - painful - hobbling about - ice pack
day 7 to day 14 swelling gone - dark brusie - walking ok
week 4 can walk fine but cant run - too painful

internet says 4 weeks to heal, up to 4 months to be perfect again due to differening degree of damage to over stained ligaments

ankle strap helps a lot
