When you have plugged the USB cable in did you choose the option on screen on the phone to mount the SD card so you could access it on the PC? I have the HTC Magic and that's how this one works. You can also copy them directly onto the SD card but on mine you have to keep taking the back cover off to do this so i prefer to use the USB cable. Must find an app for doing all this over wifi.

What RedHotF is asking is whether the video file is in a format that the phone will be able to play. I have used Videora HTC Magic Converter and i'm sure they do a compatible one for your phone too. I haven't really done much of this with it yet - the one thing lacking from the phone is a standard headphone socket so the one place i might have used it for watching videos is on the cross trainer, but can't plug headphones in.

As essex_chris says, mount the SD card first then just copy & paste the files, anywhere will do. Format wise it will take any of: - MPEG-4
- H.263
- H.264
- Windows Media Video 9
I use handbrake to convert videos, the preset for iPhone & iPod Touch is perfect for the Hero (same screen resolution etc) I can't vouch for how good they are but if copying & pasting is too hard you could try: http://www.markspace.co...issing-sync-android.html http://www.doubletwist.com

essex_chris, they're skipping 2.0 and going straight to 2.1 and it will be available sometime in March.

Hopefully, solid intel is pretty thin on the ground at the moment. There was some twitter comments from a high up Vodafone Spain member of staff which started things again and again. I think i am stuck with a model which i'm unable to upgrade at this point - my MicroSD card can't be made into a Goldcard so until i get my hands on another one i am stuck. Fingers crossed for an official update

David essex_chris, they're skipping 2.0 and going straight to 2.1 and it will be available sometime in March. For the Magic (Vodafone UK ) I understood it was 2.0.1 ..... People are talking about it being a March release , but for some reason I can envisage us still waiting in August ....... by which time 2.1 will be history ! - Excuse me for being negative about the Magic , but having succumbed to the idea that the bloody thing is un-hackable (since the 1.6 update) , I don't want to build my hopes up on it !

me either. I'm a bit gutted that i might be stuck, but to be honest i was taking a £20 a month SIM only deal, so getting the HTC Magic for free and paying £17.50 a month for the same tariff as the SIM only deal. Mustn't grumble ! It's my own fault for reading that they were easy to upgrade, then accepting an update from 1.5 to 1.6 a week after i got it. N00bie mistake!

How did you both get 1.6? They skipped it in favour of going straight to 2.0 which has morphed into 2.1. Is this because you have a Magic instead of a Hero? Is it some sort of mobile operator deal that I won't get having a simfree one?

I wish i had a non-operator one! Mine came with 1.5, and then an OTA update came through less than a fortnight after i got the phone. You should have much more freedom to be able to change the ROM - use the official one (whichever version) or use the likes of Cyanogen, or various build than include the components that you want. Given the HTC Magic is more than capable of it - i would like proper multitouch, pinch & rotate etc. plus it would be good to have improved wireless use like tethering etc. Am very impressed with the phone - especialyl so with some of the apps that use the location, accelerometer and digital compass - Google SKy is excellent. As is the speech recognition for searching - regularly use it with background noise and it gets it bang on!
