Anyway, bought a copy of Royqbt which has enabled me to attach a bluetooth GPS to the iPhone and run Navigon. Best $7 i ever spent.

I have an iPhone 2G and it doesn't have a a built in GPS unit. PLus the ones i have seen in the 3g & 3GS aren't as good as the external ones in terms of channel availability.

I think most people's grip with the battery thing was not the fact you can't carry a replacment battery, it was that when the phone hangs and you get no responce from the on button you can't remove the battery to "reset" it. But I have an iPhone and love it! "iPhone iPhone! Best phone in the world, all other phones are owned by little girls"

theiopener Papa Lazarou Any idea how I can completely turn off all internet access on the fone? Settings > Wi-Fi (off) Settings > General > Network > Cellular data (remove all setings) IME (on T-mobile or o2) an iPhone will still connect to the Data network with the APN / Username / Password fields left blank (!) The only way to stop it is to put an incorrect APN in rather than none at all

That rings true with me from when i had the iPhone 2G. I did this while i was in Australia - just added a few characters to the end of the username.
