In summary
...I did
not deadlift 240.
To expand
...Deadward and Brock Steel both
did deadlift 240.
Arrived with Deadward planty early in order to warmup. We were both well up for it and buzzing by the time Brock Steel arrived. Let's get it onnnnnn etc
Errr no.
As there were now about 12 lifters it was decided to split into two groups and we were going to have to wait. Gotta admit this took the edge riiiiight off, especially as the first flight seemed to take forfukkinevva.
When we did finally get onto the bar I didn't feel quite as loose as first thing but to be fair this was probably offset by extra raaaage.
Squat
180 sssssstonker
195 noiiiice
210 PB
props to Deadward for keeping me to my plan as the 180 was such a doddle that I debated jumping straight to 200. It worked much better this way as the 195 was just another confidence builder and made me think the 210 was'on'. I made the lift but fkkkkme it was harsh. I think I ground away longer at the recent 205 but this one just felt so
HEAVY. I looked like an angry over-ripe tomato by the time I was done. Pleased with that.
Awesome work on the squat from Deadward and Brock did better than he expected I reckon (as did his mate) but prize for squat of the day went to the humungaloid who basically did a 180 good morning whilst wearing the bar somewhere near his ears.
Bench
135
145
152.5PB
Felt good on bench going in to the comp so had half an eye on 155. This was further heightened by meeting up with a big lad who used to train there wh reckoned he might have 160. I soon jedi-mind-gamed this thought down to 155 and then basically made him fail that

Walking up to the bar with the boooo-s of the crowd (Brock Steel) ringing in my ears to remove the 2.5ss and replace them with 1.25s to knock that 155 back to a 152.5 was just so sweeeet. Made the lift fairly comfy. Don't think there was a 155 (think there might've been 155)
no, there definitely wasn't
(but might've been) etc etc Deadlift
By this stage I had a decent shot at the number I was reallllly, secretly, hoping for ...a 600 total
220
230
240f +raaaaaage
I wanted that 240 soooo bad. Think the death squat took a fair whack out of my back and legs. The 220 and 230 were a bit harder than I'd've liked but I scored about 3/10 for bravery on attempting to grind that 240 up. It came off the floor to just below the knee but my back had rounded a bit more than I fancied continuing the struggle with.
Twisted the knife to see first Brock and then Deadward rip the lift.
The humungaloid hoisted 260 like it was a bar he was going to do curls with so I was a bit lucky he'd under-estimated himself there.
I had to try and console my aching heart by winning the overall total and the bodyweight adjusted trophies.....basically 100% of all trophies on offer....but maaaaan I wanted that dead and the 600 total.
Greedy.
Awwwwwwwesome day's lifting though and a good night out afterwards. Great day.
