Bread is one of those things that seems to catch many out. I'm like you and love the stuff but I do find my weight loss slows down when I eat it even if I count it in my carb portions/calories. Use it as a treat rather than a normal intake.

I crave pizzas (all the time) but I don't eat them as I know they will be detrimental to my weight loss. I'm afraid it is a case of increasing your will power.

Try pitta bread instead. Has worked very well for my weight loss and still means I could get a similar bread fix (though since eating pitta, I'm no longer that keen on bread).

As RedHotF said, we all have cravings just some people have the will power to ignore them. Why not have bread and butter for your cheat meal once a week?

Bread was my main problem and one of the reasons I expect I always felt bloated...a couple of slices of toast for breakfast, a couple of sandwiches for lunch and a couple of slices with an evening meal soon add up over a week and it is a lot of bulk to be carrying around.....it was one of the main things I cut out when I seriously looked at changing my diet and taking up regular exercise...since October I have lost 3 stone in weight and feel much more mobile as the weight was almost all carried around my waist.....I still love bread, but know what effect it had on me and do not want to go back to the way I was pre food intake change! I now probably eat more food in a day than before, but it is spread throughout the day rather than trying fill myself 3 meals per day, shakes, fruit and healthy snacks make sure I am never hungry and proper sized portions make sure I am never un-comfortably full

Try baking your own wholemeal bread. Much better. I eat tons of the stuff and I'm fine, but whenever I eat that pillowy soft supermarket bread I feel awful.

Next time you crave white bread do the following: Think of that lovely white bread and how nice it tastes. Now imagine someone having lipo surgery and see that jar where the fat is collected. Think that the bread adds that to your body. Think of that warm, thick. gooy fat in that jar and imagine spreading it over that bread and taking a massive mouthful.

Same here, bread seems to be like an addiction, white bread that is. I used to eat tons of it. 2 sandwiches in the morning, cuppa soup with about 4 to 6 slices for lunch, and another cuppa soup with.... yep, 4 to 6 slices for supper or late afternoon tea. All with a load of butter on it as well. Always felt bloated though. Since going back to the gym, and watching what I eat, it is 7:30 - Whey proteine shake 10:30 - 1 Tunafish sandwich (using 2 slices of wholemeal bread) 1:30 - rice or pasta with chicken, Salsa sauce and jalapeno peppers 4:30 - 1 Tunafish sandwich (using 2 slices of wholemeal bread) 7:30 - 2 - 3 pieces of fruit (pre training) 9:30 - dinner 10:30 - proteine shake before bed time And it works. I do have to say that I keep working on getting the right diet together, but cutting down on the bread made a massive difference for me. Good luck on finding a substitute for bread or cutting down on it. I used to and still love it but am more concerned about the way I look and feel than the taste of bread :-) Peter
