kindle and no wi-fi?
26 January 2012 11:00
( permalink)
My husband has just kindly bought me a kindle but it appears to need wifi to set it up. We have a dongle, not wifi. Ive been on all the help pages and googled it but cant work out the solution. Can i set it up without wifi? In the amazon help page it said i can download content vis the uSB but no information on setting it up/ registering it without. Any ideas?

yes,but without wifi you may be making trips to mcds to download books. i set up my i phone in burger king you have to connect to itues through a laptop,i couldnt download on it at home, films songs etc without wi fi. a few trips to burger king i had over 100 songs and 4 films on there!

gymbabeliz so can i register/set up in mcdonalds then use it ok without, seriously? yes once you've registered/set-up, and books you download can be done on the computer and transfered by plugging the kindle into the USB There may be a way to register/set-up via USB, but I dont know it - doing it over a coffee at your local McD's or starbucks would be the easy solution

You can connect it to your laptop which connects to the internet via the dongle using the kindle USB cable, from there you should be able to transfer the books. I think. OH has one and I am sure thats what she does.

Did it not come with a USB attachment (comes out from the plug for recharging). If so then agree with the above that you can download via computer.

As said, just hook it up to your laptop via the usb cable, skip the wifi setup for now.
