Hi,
I have just read the book and its great! I am about to embark on tailoring my current diet and exercise routine more specifically to the HIPaCC. I understand the plan is more of a guide than a strict plan, and that there is much room for adjustments. But I am unsure about a few factors and wondered if it might be able to ask some questions here, I hope some of you may be able to help!?
I am definitely a level 2. I am a vegan and currently exercise 3-4 days per week cardio/weights, for the plan I will increase this to 5/6 cardio and 3 weights.
Currently I notice my diet is very high in good fats – avocados, olives, olive oil, nuts and seeds, nut/seed butters, and can probably see why I have problems losing weight.
My current diet is normally:
Smoothie for breakfast – rice milk, hemp seed protein powder, a banana, ground flax seed and some peanut butter. Occasional I add oats.
Snacks: oatcakes, rye breads, apples, fruit, carrots, raisins, nuts, sunflower/pumpkins seeds.
Lunch/dinners: salads/veg with beans or tofu, occasional use of soya products (they usually contain wheat). With one meal a day usually some Brown Rice, quinoa, rice pasta/noodles, oatwraps, or oatcakes.
Drinks: water, herbal teas, black tea with soya milk.
I tend to avoid too much wheat as it makes me feel very bloated/gassy. Too much beans and Soya also unfortunately makes me feel like this too!

That is why I prefer rice milk.
QUESTIONS!!!!
1) Can rice milk be used in the morning? What about Hemp seed protein powder? My current smoothie minus the Peanut butter perhaps? I am uncomfortable using too much Soya as it makes me feel way too bloated.
2) Can we use a variety of vegetables, or only the ones in the menu?
3) Where do beans, nuts and seeds come into the plan?
4) Quorn is not a vegan food as it contains eggs, can soya/tofu/beans be a substitute?
5) What do you mean by uncooked rice and uncooked cous cous? What about using Quinoa?
6) What about cooking processes for foods, and salad dressings, are they any restrictions with fat use? Eg. Frying/baking, grilling etc, olive oil use?
7) What about fruits and fruit juice. I current don’t drink juice. I prefer to eat fruit; can this be an ok substitute?
Sorry for my ignorance! I have read through the book a few times after recently purchasing it and just want to clarify these issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks for your time and sorry for the long post!!!!
