Made some of these today, used 180g whey but was a bit powdery so melted a bit more of the mix which sorted it out Had a sneaky taste earlier before it set properly and I have to say their a bit alright! Added in a bit of mixed fruit which seems to have worked ok.

Dont think their very good for dieting though, as I could eat them all in 1 go

I made these a while ago. They were lovely straight from the fridge, but tasted a bit off/sour if they got warm at work.

I think the added whey made it a bit too dry so I tried to add a little moisture which obviously turned it the other way

Just wondering could I do without butter and just use more peanut butter and quark.

Also could the jelly be substituted for chocolate powder or is the jelly a must?

Made these about 5 mins ago, in the fridge now. Used:

100 grams of Quark
50 grams of Whole Earth Peanut Butter
50 grams of Brazil nuts
25g desicated coconut
115 grams of Flora extra light (St Ivel stuff isn't sold in any of the supermarkets i've been in?)
2 packets of strawberry Sugar Free Strawberry Jelly
180 grams of whey protein

Add a little taste and tastes just like i'm eating a chewart or something, pretty nice but not sure i'm like them if they stay very sticky, hopefully will harden up in the fridge and be ok. If they are very sticky, anyone know how to make them less sticky? More whey?

I cant find the original thread that this recipe came from but I made some of these last night and to be honest they're not all that great! The recipe I used was:

600g cottage cheese
280g oats
250g almonds (i used mixed - almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts)
125g whey
2 packs sugar free jelly

Firstly they look pretty horrid and secondly they taste like overly strong strawberry yoghurt.

Think Ill force these down me then try the strawberry fudge recipe on the first page.

Just made my first batch and they're currently setting in the fridge. I messed up a bit with the Whey, I thought 1 scoop was 25g so may only have around 2/3rds the whey in. Also, you weren't very clear with the '2 sachets' of jelly. I bought hartleys jelly sachets which come in pairs at 23g a sachet. So 46g altogether, which I presume is what you meant by 2 sachets. I'll let you know how I get on, but licking the bowl was a pleasure so it won't go to waste even if its not quite right! (56.8g of protein per 100g in jelly crystals, v.surprised!)

Cant find where I got this recipe from, but when I saw it the quantities were all in cups, I have now tried this and worked it out using grams to make it easier for those who dont have cups:

200g oats
200g clear honey
100g natural peanut butter
2 scoops unflavoured whey

Put the oats and whey into a big mixing bowl
Heat the honey and peanut butter in another bowl, in the microwave until nice and runny
Then combine the honey and oats mixture, use a big wooden spoon to mix and bash it all together
It should all combine into a doughy sort of mix, if not add more honey / oats as appropriate to get consistency right
Shape the dough out into a rectangle or square on some grease proof paper
Allow to cool / set
Cut into 4 and store in an air tight container
Enjoy a soft and tasty flapjack like protein bar!

Each bar contains around 22grams of protein, cant remember how many cals though.

Does it make a difference if you use no almonds?

And do you use unflavoures or strawberry whey?

I usually use unflavoured whey.

Less fat content if you dont use almonds.

Hi there, i am new to the forum and only just joined a few days ago. I have tried reflex protein bars a couple of weeks ago and they tasted great. I know you probably get more satisfaction out of making your own but my question is - has anyone worked out an average cost per bar for these?

I'm just wondering whether to bother making my own or just buying them.

Thanks in advance.

Ian.

Using a slight variation on this recipe, I made the other day they where real nice but took forever to mix and seperate from mixing bowl.

Made again today with EXACTLY the same ingredients and measurements. But it mixed easily into a perfect ball type thing no problem, can't understand why it was so much easier than the first time.

Thanks for the recipe gaz they come in very handy at college.

Apart from the 180 grams whey which is worth £1.80 from myprotein.co.uk all the ingredients are worth more or less around 50p for the portion sizes.

Plus you get 8 bars worth and they are a lot nicer tasting than any protein bar on the market.

I've been adding 200 grams of whey to my last 2 batchs and there much harder, good to take to work. Im thinking of adding a teaspoon of flax seeds to the mix next time too.

Finallly got round to makign these, have done for few weeks now and there just so yummy

I have tryed all the flavours
Orange(57p) - Ok not bad
Lime(55p) - Nice
Strawberry(37p) - Very nice
Black Current(51p) - Very nice
Rasberry(39p) - Best So Fu*king nice

Rasberry by far the best flavour the others were too expensive.

I used nearly the org recipe

100 grams of Quark
50 grams of Asda Cruncy Peanut butter
50 grams of Flaked Almonds
115 grams of Asda's Olive Spread
2 packets of Sugar Free Jelly
  200 grams of whey protein.

1 thing though, on my protein tub it says consume protein within 20mins of mixing, are these allright to sit around for a day or 2?
