Went along to the Olympic gym in Eccles to advise on the issue of squat suits. I don't think I would be telling tales out of school if I let slip that the phrase "better than sex" was used.

Thanks. I really enjoyed it....even trying to get in the blue suit was fun but you missed that part Today at the gym we had the pleasure of Fat Pete (British Masters HW record holder), the much loved and admired powerlifting legend in his own lunch time, going though squats with us. He very kindly brought a couple of squatting suits for me to test drive. This was quite daunting as I had heard speak of 20 minutes to put one of the things on and much tugging and dancing and baby bouncer style suspension from smith machines. Luckily suit numero uno went on really without any difficulty to which Pete said it was tooooo big and I was to get it off and put the other one on...... This didn't go on too quickly....in fact after much pusing, prodding, tugging and hitching I had only JUST about got the things over my hips with and tucked in my ass with the help of Paul and so was then able to call is the assistance of Fat Pete on a box to grab hole of the suit literally try to bounce me into to it....this was actually a quite disturbingly pleasurable experience(nearly as good as sex but putting you clothes on....kind of dyslexic sex). As time was ticking on a people were waiting the decision was taken to take this suit back of and leave for another day and just return to suit numero uno!!! The whole session was very enjoyable and the words 'TIGHTER' 'LOWER' and 'DRIVE' were shouted at regular intervals by various people but non louder than Pete. Also refering to Rob and a Fat Women's Clit was probably one of the most original insults I've heard for a while!!!! All this shouting and wrapping took me to a new PB of 140kg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAnJVTEAU24 Pete will hopefully also varify that my femurs are SILLY long. Pete I think this along with the strangeness of the suit is why I 'failed' falling backwards...the counter balance just shifted too much of the centre of gravity.

Solid work, I embedded the vid for you. I'd tell the rear spotter to back off a bit, was he not putting you off being all over you like a rash? The second suit sounds perfect, did Pete not bring along some plastic bags to help you get it on with?

Yeahhhhhh way to go you! What was your previous PB? dYSLEXIC sex... love it... Embarrassingly, it's just taken 3 attempts at me trying to get the caps lock on and off in teh right places without success so I think perhaps some dyslexic sex is within my grasp... ;-) Will watch vid tomoz - reading the story was enough for ce soir!

Considering this was your first time in a suit ever you really did very well, very well indeed. That suit is ideal as a first time suit and you should stick with it for some time. It may be prudent to record your weight this evening and if you continue to gain it will have the effect of tightening the suit. You should continue to try the tight suit in the comfort of your own home. Judging by the amount of bouncing required to have seemingly little effect it may take a few attempts to get into it. Try it a few times and see if any progress it made, if it is carry on and if not, forget it. The minor modification to the squat rack Paul mentioned will make a big difference. It's a splendid idea, and Christmas just around the corner. Just remember the things we discussed afterwards and all should be hunky dory. If you need me I am only an email or a quick post away. I can also confirm that you have silly long femurs. They are the sort of femurs you pick up cheap at a car boot sale. Get the originals back if you can. A pleasure as always, now you begin to see just how much fun squatting is.

The bit I really liked was when you held the suit at arm's length and annouced that "it dosen't look too bad" then you gave it a tug and "hang on, it doesn't stretch" was heard. Such fun.

Tony - thanks for the embedding! As for Danny being too close....absolutely not...I like the snug spot and I trust him 100%.He's my training partner and he 'knows' how to spot me and never jumps in when he's not needed but it RIGHT there when he is!!! I actually find most blokes find the physical closeness when spotting a lass awkward and worry that it's 'inappropriate' and this then causes problems when you REALLY do need them to do their job because even a split second of worrying where to hold on is really not what is needed. Dan makes me feel safe and confident. His snug spot caught me on my next failed squat! Flick - previous PB was on Tues at 130kg! I think dysexic is the future ;0)

Pete - I'm afraid these are the bambi legs we are stuck with and we can only paint with the colours we are given. I will stick to the black suit but keep trying the blue. I am hoping not to put any more weight on lol. In fatc the plan is to lose some bodyfat so this my make blue suit less uber snug!!!!

They are indeed fine pies! Legs were 'heavy' on Sunday but fine and dandy yesterday and today. I did a lightish leg session today with absolutely no heroics. Only real discomfort is down outer side of my calves. No heavy stuff after squats on Sunday just some ham curls, SLDL, light 20 rep hack squat, staggered leg press into normal leg press supersetted with leg extensions. Had another shoulder treatment today and there is a very significant improvement. Not there yet but moving in the right direction. I did a machine chest session yesterday. Again nothing dramatic and nothing to failure and then did high rep side laterals, reverse pec dec and EZ upright rows.

Sometimes it's just a relief to be able to 'get through' a workout if an area's been troubling you, even if you can't work to your max. How often are you having treatment?

Flick - t's just a tad frustrating as everything else is going swimmingly well and just not able to push the bounrdries on chest and shoulders. needs must though and all that. I'm having 3 treatments a week and we're definitely getting there. Pete - Ta x Had a look at comp dates yesterday and it looks like either Wales of one of the Midlands shows as the Leeds may clash with Paul's plans but they are as yet not confirmed so still all up in the air. Loads of time to pan though. Diet will start April sometime. Big back and arms later with Dan!!

Pretty chilled weekend all round. Chest and shoulders today. Did a bit of PG training today. I stil can't do flies so I did decline bench instead on incline flies to start with. Dan did the flies. Then did an expanding set for shoulders with moderate weight 10-20 reps to keep the workout intense without havin to go heavy! Chest Decline BB Bench 40kg x 10 50kg x 10 60kg x 10 65kg x 8,8 Flat BB Bench - slow neg, hold, press 40kg x 8-10 x 4 Iso Flat Bench Machine Triple drop x 2 70kg x 8,6 drop 50kg 6,5 drop 40kg partials x 6-8 Shoulders - expanding set - Reverse Pec Dec 40lb x 15 Reverse Pec Dec , 10kg front raise RPD , FR, EZ Upright Row 10kg RPD, FR, UR, 5kg side lats RPD, FR, UR, SL, Shoulder press 20kg FR, UR, SL, SP UR, SL,SP, Partial reverse pec dec @ 20lb for 20 reps SL,SP,RPD SP, RPD RPD rep ranged from 10 - 20 reps - no forced and no total failure. This is probably the way forward for me to train shoulders as there was absolutely no injury aggrevation and they were fcked and PUMPED. Rep range and weight can vary depending on how I feel but it will be a variation on a theme!

I really rate decline and feel it really hit my chest and not stress my shoulder. I only use a slight decline as i don't think the angle has to be too accute.
