Looking good for the comp. If you can bring your squat up to your bench and dead in terms of poundage and technique then you will do very well in the future. GBPF unequipped nationals next year?

Ive finally got the ****ing internet back in my house, been doing my ****ing nut it! Cheers guys. Training has been continuing among a raft of binge drinking sessions at uni. Highlights have included a very easy 150 x 3 squat with my new low bar position. I easily had 6, but I didnt want to push it first week with the new bar position. I also benched 120 x 6 for a PR, all paused and very solid.

Strength seems to be going the right way, some good lifts. Whats with the rugby then? Thought you were giving it a wide berth this year? I'ev actually been talked into joining a local American Football team. I miss the the social side of team sports so said I'd give it a go.

Squat 60kg x 3 100kg x 3 105kg x 5 120kg x 5 135kg x 5 All very easy, hip pulling after no stretching for a week and both knees totally ****ed after playing rugby on saturday. Lesson learned there! Getting more comfy with the new bar position, 135 couldve easily gone for 10-15. Power clean 60kg x 3 80kg x 3 80kg x 3 80kg x 3 90kg x 1 90kg x 1 all easy enough various abs job done.

Cheers mate, hopefully string some decent numbers together in the near future. Ive just moved my bar position down quite a bit and whilst it feels very strong, squatting for high reps is fairly uncomfortable.

At least thats my problem with it. But like yourself, I am stronger with it.

Yeah high rep squats can **** off for a few weeks while i get used to the new position. Bar feels very light on my back though so i think the low bar is the way forward. I might go high bar for assistance to save the shoulders a bit.

Squat 60kg x 3 100kg x 3 110kg x 3 127.5kg x 3 145kg x 6 Power clean 60kg x 3 60kg x 3 70kg x 3 80kg 3 x 3 Power snatch 40kg 4 x 3 Various abs. Happy with the squatting, took my stance in a little as my hip has been playing up and these felt very solid. Had more than 6, probably 10 if I pushed it but my knee and hip are not 100% so no point in goig crazy. Shoot for some good numbers next week, I think i ll be finishing up with 150-155 so shoot for a 5+ there.

Is it wise to be getting back into rugby as the comp is approaching? Looking back through yoiur training, there's a clear difference between training whilst playing rugby and training when not - when you are playing you're training usually suffers, either from injuries or fatigue. You've made fantastic progress up to this point, it would be a shame for it to grind to a halt just for a few games of rugby.

21st-22nd nov LMC. We'll no doubt be lifting off on the 22nd sunday. I agree with LMC about rugby, but I guess you enjoy it and have commitments. But play safe! :)

Only game I ll get to play this season mate because of my knee really, starting treatment next week and wanted to get a game in. Not playing or training now until after the comp. Going in to next week fresh and shooting for some good stuff, hopefully 155 x 6 squat, 125 x 3-4 bench and not quite sure on the deadlift. Been sorting my life out PhD wise these last few weeks and im only just getting into a routine so hopefully everything will be sweet from here on out!
