Hello hello!!! - 01 March 2009 17:42
Well goodness me it's a while since I was on here!!

Just thought I'd pop over while I had a spare minute and let you all know I'm still alive!

Basically I've been sooooper busy since the end of last summer. I did an A-level in 12 weeks in summer and still managed to keep up a decent-ish training regime, but since August it's been downhill. I'm working by 8am, get home about 6pm and then carry on working till about 10pm. I've had one day off this year, a Saturday a few weeks ago. As you can imagine the gym has totally gone out of the window. Eating has too as I don't normally get lunch and I'm too knackered to eat healthily (i.e. cook) at the moment so I've been eating loads of rubbish like bread. Altogther I've put on about 3 stone and am up to decent small whale proportions!

I'm not worrying myself about it though: it's only till summer, and then I get my life back! Honestly, even my mates think I'm dead at the moment too. One of them lives 2 doors away and I've seen her once since Christmas!!

Anyway, I've been having a quick scan at people's journals and stuff and you all seem to be doing really well. I can't believe how much progress Elsa has made, she looks fab! I'd hoped to get to the seminar in April but it's the same day as the Grand National and I'm having a day out in the posh seats!

Take care and hopefully I'll be back with a fat-fighting vengeance come July-ish! x x

Re:Hello hello!!! - 02 March 2009 18:12
Aww thanks for the hellos guys! I'd save the welcome back just yet though Dawn, this is more like a flying visit while I've got a quiet week!

The reason I'm so mad busy is because I've stupidly decided to do a PGCE for teacher training at the same time as my MA. That means I'm in school all day, have whacking great assignments about planning and teaching theory and stuff, then still have loads of reading and assignments on top of that for my MA. I'm a fool. I've got mates who just said doing the PGCE was the hardest thing they've ever done, so to pile a load of extra work on myself on top of that was just silly really! I'm loving it though, apart from being knackered and fat! I've got 3 weeks off school at the moment too which is ace, I'm only working about 10 hours a day and it's all essay-type stuff instead of planning lessons and making bloody resources and stuff. If I never make another flashcard again in my life it'll be too soon!!

Anyway hopefully I'll be back properly come summer and you can all help me lose my new blubber! Good luck to those competing and fingers crossed I might get to some comps to cheer you on!

Re:Hello hello!!! - 13 October 2009 19:30
Just thought I'd bob in to let you know I'm still not dead! Have really missed going to comps this year and am started to get really frustrated about not training. Missing you lot too! My small whale proportions have increased even further since I started my first teaching job: am in school for 7am and usually get my lunch at 3pm when the kids leave, which has to be something I can eat on the go as I'm still working till about 6pm. At the moment I'm having cereal for brekkie; a cereal bar, banana and apple for lunch; and then pasta or a jacket potato for dinner. Trying to cut out potatoes and bread but they're quick and easy! Have nowhere near enough protein in my diet but really haven't the motvation to cook chicken! Am still putting on weight too which is really annoying - I'm the sort of person that has to exercise to stop getting fat uness I eat sod all, and I'm just not exercising at all :(

My school is really rough so I'm mentally exhausted by the end of the day and haven't the will to go to the gym: in my first few weeks 2 cars have been scratched; one has had its windows put through; 7 have had nails in the tyres; I've been told to eff off more or less every day; I've been locked in my classroom; I've had boys square up to me; I've had the school policeman called to my room to remove violent pupils; a teacher has been punched; one class had a flour fight in my room; and I've been doing detentions and homework catch-ups every lunch and after-school. I'm also still working on my thesis so have work to do once I'm home. It was my birthday the other week and I was in school for 11 hours, worked when I got home then promptly fell asleep at half 8pm!! Saturday is my day off though - last year I didn't manage a full day off a week so I'm getting somewhere!

Once again I'll say that I hope to see you all soon and be back training soon but unless they install a gym in my classroom which I can use whilst working at the same time, God knows what I'll do!!

I'm fed up of being fat too, I've never been this big in my life :(

Well done to everyone on comps this year and take care x x x

Hey stranger, good to see you. I'd have been arrested for assault by now. Couldn't put up with cheeky brats like that!!

It's the Uni next weekend if you fancy coming along. Planning on doing prejudge only though.

Re:Hello hello!!! - 13 October 2009 20:21
I might just do that! It'd be lovely to see you all! It's the first day of half term too so I might be slightly more relaxed than I usually am at the mo! Will text you nearer the time and just buy my ticket on the day - I'm guessing for prejudging you don't have to sit in allocated seats as it's quieter so I'd just be able to sit with you lot?

You're not allowed to tell me off for being so fat though; I'm depressed about it enough as it is :(

I've still got your bloomin' stepper too, not that I'm getting any use out of it: had great intentions to get up at 4 to fit some exercise every day but it didn't quite work out, I just ended up knackered at school! If I had coffee to wake me up I could maybe have coped but I'm drinking green tea at the mo coz I don't mind it cold and I don't usually finish a drink before it's cold at the mo - made a drink at 8 this morning and finally got to finish it at half 1 :D

That's sounds great, hope you can make it. And stop harping on about your weight, I'm not bothered what you look like. It will be good to meet up again.

If you will still use that stepper then no worries, keep hold of it.

Re:Hello hello!!! - 13 February 2010 13:40
Hellooooooo! Once again just a quick check in while I've got some time - seem to be managing once every few months or so!

Been having a look through journals and on people's Facebook and everyone seems to be doing great - Tan you're looking huuuge! Welshy good luck competing and stick with the diet!

I'm still fat and not getting smaller - haven't seen inside of gym for yonks and seem to live on cereal bars and sandwiches. Am really f**ked off and wondering whether this is all worth it if I'm that fat I don't want to be seen in public! Kids are still mad. We've had some great fights in the last few weeks including some headstamping and someone throwing a chair at me. Am coming home with headaches from all the shouting I'm doing!

However on the positive side I'm bloody minted due to never going out and having no life so am off to Dubai for half term - it's meant weeks off working like a maniac so I wouldn't have to take work with me, but it'll be worth it as I'm going to switch my brain off completely for the next week!

Good luck for this season everyone x x

Now there's a plan, heh heh!

I tried to get up early to do some morning cardio the other day as evenings obviously aren't working for me, and it almost killed me. I was like a zombie by lunch and the kids ran rings around me all afternoon. I need my 8 hours - maybe if I go to bed as soon as I get home it might work! :D

Re:Hello hello!!! - 28 June 2010 18:10
Hi all, here's another brief fly-by-night visit from your's truly to catch up with y'all!

Have recently been diagnosed as hypothyroid by my GP after feeling ****e for a long time. I just thought I was being a lazy cow the last year or so, or that all my qualifications/ work etc were taking it out of me.

Then I packed in smoking and BOOM, I fell to bits: sleeping 10-12 hours a night but still being tired, no energy to put one foot in front of another, tearful, all the symptoms of depression, and more. Apparently smoking can mask an underactive thyroid as it's a stimulant and I could've had it for years. This could explain why I've always struggled with my weight and diets never seemed to work no matter how much effort I put in at the gym too. I know it's not an excuse to be fat (as some people seem to use it) but it explains why I've always had to work my ass off just to stay normal.

I've put on about 5-6 stone in the last 18mths to 2 years, and that's not from overeating - that's stopping exercise. The perfect example of how strict I am with food is a conversation with my mum shortly before I was diagnosed.

Me: "I think I might have an underactive thyroid."
Mum: "Don't be silly, you just eat far too much, and you eat in-between meals!"
Me: "When do I eat in-between meals?"
Mum: "You had a Kitkat a few weeks ago!"

Ok I don't follow a BBing diet anymore, but I have 3 sensible meals a day (about 1200-1500 kcal) and a treat maybe once a week. I eat too many carbs, but not a ridiculous amount. That does not equate to a 6 stone weight gain!!

I've got my 2nd set of bloods tomorrow and should hopefully be starting my meds very soon - I just can't wait to have the energy to get back into the gym and shift some of this lard. I'm under no illusion that thyroxine will make my extra weight fall off instantly, but at least I'll actually be able to work out to try and shift it - at the moment just walking about is sometimes too much.

Hope you're all doing well here though. Have seen some pics on Facebook and people are looking really great!

Lots of exhausted but hopeful love x x x

Bloody hell mate, that's a bummer. At least it gives you an explaination as you say but also shows how well you obviously did work to keep at the level you used to do and didn't immediately think it was something like that.

Good to see you, I don't do bumbook so do keep in touch with how you get on once you start the meds. x

Re:Hello hello!!! - 28 June 2010 19:49
Thanks Kitty.

It's given me hope that once the thyroxine kicks in I'll lose weight quicker than I used to (with exercise, obv) and will be able to get rid of that last little bit that always eluded me. I'm sure the owner of my gym used to think I was cheating with my diet or something as I was in there all hours doing as I was told but not getting the results.

Little steps though, I need the energy to go to work first. I kept trying to keep it up even though my doctor wanted to sign me off, but my boss sent me home in the end. I'm not much use at dealing with loony little ASBO kids when I'm this tired!
