I'm hoping that Ferarri do terrible this year, even though Kimi is my favourite driver.
I just can't stand the Ferarri attitude that they have had over the past few years.

I really hope Jensen does well - he deserves to after sticking with BAR/Honda/Brawn through the bad (Honda) times, even if he did try to get out of his contract at one point.
I think he's a nice guy - has a balance of superstar racing driver and self-effacing British nature.

I used to like Alonso until his dummy throwing episode.
Hamilton I can take or leave, I was pleased that a British driver won.

I am hoping some of the "lesser" drivers and teams do better this year, but of course the big teams will moan and complain and throw their weight about.

I would like to see Brawn do well, and maybe someone like Trulli or Vettel.

I'm a Hamilton fan and it's not going to be fun watching him with a poor car this season.

Predictions:

1st: Button
2nd: Kimi
3rd: Barrichello

Hey you may laugh but the early roumers are saying that the Brawn car is pretty fast and has shook off all the reliability issues it had.

I guess now we'll see what kind of metal Button's really made of.

Nico Rossberg (Williams) fastest in both practices, Hamilton 16th and 18th respectively.

The cars have changed almost everything this year.

They have new Aero dynamic packs, they have new boost systems and different tyres.  This year was always going to be about who got to grips with a complete package first.

It's all about over taking this year and they've put in restrictions to make the cars less difficult to slipstream and easier to get a run on into a corner.

By the looks of it, it really is anyones championship this year.

It's extremely unlikely but I would piss myself if Mclaren having been holding back and come out as a contender in qualifying.

Racing wise it should be entertaining until all get used to their cars etc I just hope it does prove to be a good season rather than a controversial one

I have to remain all 'lol' at the thought of Button winning races.... If he does ill genuinely be gutted.
As said, i dont like him. Forgetting his attitude and what he thinks about himself i also hope he fails due to the fact that he left Williams to find better things. When Honda failed, it was proved that he should have stayed at Williams, if Brawn GP do well then he would have done the right thing in moving on.
He just did what Hamilton will innevitably do...

I'd be surprised if this is something they can fix this weekend.  It sounds like a few weeks work in a wind tunnel to sort this one out.

mate you dont seem to have a very deep understanding about how cars work. There is not bugger all to play about with as you put it, it is just the same as last year, but with different rules as to what you can do. It is still ultimately about who designs and interperets the regulations to design the best car.

Mclaren have failed and are a good 1+seconds off the pace, this is something that cannot be easily recitified unless a total redesign of the car is undertaken. This is not going to happen due to cost and in season testing restrictions, if I were a betting man, and I am, I would be laying hamilton for the championship.

Brawn GP have the same budget as everyone else, have last night signed a sponsorship deal with Virgin, and have a very good customer engine. Dont be fooled, one thing I will say is that I bet Honda are absolutely sick they sold the team.

Maybe im too sceptical but i just cannot believe that Mclaren and Ferrari have taken such a backwards step....
We've seen similar mind games in previous seasons, just not to this effect. We will see the truth in qualifying....

mclaren havent gone backwards.  the rule changes are so big, that everyone has had to redesign the whole car from scratch where body design is concerned.

whats happened is that they havent done as well as others with their development, and are now way off the pace

I take it you don't mean this literally because they don't have the same budget as everyone else.

Regards everyone slagging off Hamilton for saying he will leave McLaren... I don't know for sure but I am willing to bet good money on this non story originating because a reporter asked him if he could see himself ever leaving the team. Hamiltons reply would have been something along the lines of 'it's a possibility, yes'. Next thing you know the headlines read "HAMILTON TO LEAVE MCLAREN IF RESULTS DON'T IMPROVE". What a load of crap. It's an absolute non story put out there to provoke the sorts of messages on forums as seen here on pages one and two of this thread.

Brawn G.P. reliability issues are not 100% sorted. They are having trouble with the adapter plate that mates the Honda tub to the Merc engine.

(Edited to correct the terrible spelling and grammer during my rant.)

mostly what they over look is in the same paragragh he said...the he didnt see himself racing for anyone else and would like to see his career with them.

About the budget, no not literally, but people seem to think that this car was designed in someones shed and as such couldn't possibly be faster than a more established team.

Blimey all the Hamilton haters are out in force lol. Anyway it's interesting how Rosberg was quicker in practice than last years pole. I think once the teams develop their new diffusers we might seem a return to normality more or less. It seems to be making all the difference at the moment.

awww c'mon...a british driver who nearly won the season before by a point goes on top gear to do the reason able priced car lap is hardly asking to be in the limelight, what about Nigel Mansell, or Hill or Couthard, where they not the same.

In terms of Hamilton coverage ive heard nothing about him in the off season, nothing in papers, nothing in the Mags or rags...zippo.

And when each driver goes back home, they HAVE to make sponsors certain coverage of them, they are the brand, promoting them, its his job to be in ads, campagins etc etc, but Alonso is a huge whore back home, so is Massa.

And imagine the coverage Sato gets back home, s much so that the car industry took a dive when they went to drop him!

Didnt know there were so many F1 fans on here.

Sat up last night and this morning and watched FP1 and FP2. Its great to see it back. Weekends just arent the same.

Ive a £5 bet on Kimi to win the race. He seems very determined this year and isnt dwelling on last year. He is id say the best driver on the grid. Im a long-life Kimi fan obv. Hakkinen before him.

The three teams with the bigger diffuser obviously seem to have an advantage. But looking at '99 when Hakkinen and Coulthard obviously had far superior cars the championship was very tight. I dont see any of these three teams winning the championship to be honest. The other teams will implement the diffuser if its found perfectly legal asap.

Hoping to see M.Shcumachers fastest lap record beat at some stage this weekend.

Kimi

The Ferrari's pace is really good. Massa was able to compete with the Brawn,Toyota and Williams so it shows just how good their car really is. Imagine the Ferrari with the larger diffuser. Lets hope Kimi's hydraulic failure wont affect his qualifying session.

I think Mc Laren just need to hook the car up and they will be in the top 10.

Am I the only one up watching it?

Rosbery looks very quick. These teams really need to make the most of this advantage before the other teams implement it. In FP2 the commentator who was with the Red Bull team said there was people working on one of the larger diffusers for their car if and when FIA stay there 100% legal.

BBC's coverage is great so far.
