Usually the fastest car gets reigned in over the course of the season. Remember when the McLaren's lapped the entire field in 98, but the others were much closer by the end of the season.

I agree Brawn might struggle eventually. Ferrari and Red Bull when they develop new diffusers should be very quick. Maybe Richard Branson will get his check book out to help Brawn stay at the top.

of course the fastest car gets reigned in. Im not saying it wont! What im saying is that people make out like its just a fluke, and in a few races time they will be at the back of the grid again as the other teams will be blowing them away. Just not going to happen IMO. Ross brawn has a long history of success in F1. Branson isnt going to back a team as a main sponsor to see it fail and end up at the back of the grid. They have the knowledge, and backing to stay competitive at the top of the field. Sure they wont dominate for the whole season, far from it. but they wont drop off the pace and end up at the back either.

Red Man Looks very interesting for the race tomorrow. Trulli is well on it! I wonder if he'd stayed on the right hand side of the circuit as he crossed the line (like everyone else) would the pole be any different? Morning in bed for me anyway tomorrow. Nah there isn't a tenth in staying right over the line, would have been slightly quicker though.

dazc redman -check out whos in P1!!!!! hahahahahahahah told you so!!! again! cant remember who else was saying brawn wouldnt be able to keep up with the other teams, may have been cu3ed, i know its still early in the season, but it must be getting harder to keep dismissing them cant wait for tomorrows race!!! I have to admitt, im astonished by the turn around of the honda/brawn team. Fair play to them and good luck. I think in a few races it'll a different story but you never know.... Tomorrows race should be a cracker anyway

That doesnt apply as much though in a sport that is not directly nationality based. England football team is all about England. F1 may have drivers of different nationalitys but it is more about the driver. I like Alonso, he's Spanish, my favourite footballer is Fernando Torres, he's also Spanish. I just personally believe they are the best in the their chosen field. I dont care for Patriotism.

yep! its close racing which is what we all want to see! But i believe brawn have a good car, others seem to believe they are only fast because the others dont. This isnt the case imo. Look how close they are to last seasons times i think brawn will be contenders all the way through the season. they have my support thats for sure. I want to see them do well. Button has always and will always have my backing as a driver. He is world class and deserves to be fighting for points, not wasted at the back of the grid. I know others feel differently and thats cool. hamilton will do pretty well in the race tomorrow as well i think. Watched his interviews today, and he seemed genuinely humble. He has gone up a few pegs in my book

It has always been a brilliant race and this year is no different. they want it at a later time, a time when it has a very likely chance of rain (which is always heavy in malaysia) so how is it a stupid thing to say?

Pity about the rain as it could have been a lot better if the race had started an hour or so earlier. Imo, next year it will start at the normal time instead of trying to please a European audience. I have no problem getting up to watch it early and if i did id just record it anyway. My liking of Raikonnen is disminishing slightly, im sure we'll never know the truth but am i wrong in thinking that he himself wanted to jack when the red flag came out? Even one the Ferrari head techs claimed Kimi could be going back out yet he's pictured in shorts eating an ice cream.... It look as if after the bad decision on tyre choices he lost all motivation and just quit. I did think at fisrt this may have something to do with saving the engine etc, but then the Ferrari guy said he may be coming back out. If he was just saving the car, id imagine the tech guy would know this.... Also i picked up on Coulthards comment on how every driver was a member of the gpda apart from Kimi??? Did i hear this right? If so why isnt he a member? Does he think he's exempt in some way....? Either way, very good drive by Button and well deserved. He's showing his worth now as a contender.

Hamilton only joined at the start of the season. There is no obligation for the drivers to join it so I dont see the problem if he decides against it.

Great race up to the rain. Sometime I enjoy a bit of rain to shake things up a bit but today really spoiled it as it put an end to the race! And of course it does introduce an element of luck, meaning that the best driver doesn't necessarily win, just the one that happened to need a stop when the rain comes. This season not only do we see overtaking, but actual battles. Previously, a faster car could often take a slower car and that was that but the way Webber and Alonso went past each other time and time again was great! Looking forward to the next one now and I think all those Button detractors over the last couple of years can really see that it was the car holding him back, not that he was a bad driver.

It would either have been a great move by Ferrari or a terrible and unfortunately it didnt work out. If it hadnt a rained I was confident Kimi could have had a good race. Luckily there was only half points today.

I dont think he'll be in F1 long now anyway.

kimi would have had time to get the kit back on if they were going back out, but i think the main reason he had taken it off was because they thought there was a problem with the kers, and werent sure if the car was going to be ok to go out again. the battles webber was getting into were fantastic, the ten-15 minutes when everyone was swapping tyres was great to watch people getting it right and wrong. I bet ferrari will want to get as far away from malaysia as possible, what an awfull weekend for them, some really massive mistakes. as eddie jordan said at the end of the coverage, 'ferrari used to be able to buy their way out of trouble, they dont have that option anymore'

I've never watched an F1 race before as I was always under the impression is was a tedious 1½ hours of cars going round a track very fast and the only time the lead changed was when pits were made. Watching the race today changed all that. There was overtaking, strategy in tyre & fuel choice, cars spinning out, the underdogs performing incredibly well (Red Bull), just great from the onset. Presumably it's not always like this though? Shame the rain was so ****ial it had to end prematurely.

I have came to one overall conclusion, the BBC coverage is sh!t, couldnt see it this morning, so that meant having to wait till now on BBC 3......what did they do just before the race, they had a news bullten saying Jensen won the race, fcuked the whole things for me. In the replay their was no talk or commentary about all that happined this week, just some crap qualifying reels then Bang stright into the race. Looks like we wont get better afternoon slots because of fcuking Sh!tenders re-runs. I would actually like it back on ITV now.

Shame the rain was so ****ial it had to end prematurely. when schumacher was winning it was pretty boring, the cars and regs ment there was only really a couple of teams that could win and challenge consistently. Alot of races saw little overtaking. The last few seasons have seen much closer, more exciting racing, and close races with a decent amount of overtaking, some good battles etc as more the usual. Strategy is now even more important because of how close the cars are and how many people can challenge for position. F1 is the best it has been for a long time, i doubt there will be any races this year where there is little action. The bbc converage is excellent, brundle in particular (though hes been on F1 for years) i like the bits with eddie jordan and david coultard as well, gives great insight from people that really know their stuff.

I turned it on 10 mins before the start, deliberately as i dont really like the pre race talk. Its generally just going over the qualifying from the day before. Id much prefer it if they had more after race info and interviews. I find myself normally watching the late night highlights as it contains more after race stuf... LM, this seasons racing has been very good so far and has been a lot closer. Yes you are right though, in the past it has had some poor races that contain almost zero overtaking and little action. This season looks a belter!

I would actually like it back on ITV now. what about the toyotas or trulli and glock? or his team mate rubens? or alonso in the renault? he is beating plenty of decent drivers. and the ferraris arent crap, they just had a crap weekend, thats their own fault if they make the wrong choices and dont qualify well thats their own fault. anyway, button will prove his skill through this season, and maybe convince even yourself (though i think even if he were to win the championship, you would still put it down to everyone else not doing well) why did you watch it on bbc3? go onto bbc1, press the red button, there is a sports multi screen, where you can watch highlights or full race replays, which will be on a loop today and for quite a while afterwards. Same with practice and qualifying all weekend, all there on bbci to watch whenever you want!!

cu3ed Still cant rate button im afraid, not while Kimi Massa Hamilton are driving crap cars. Good race tho! I have came to one overall conclusion, the BBC coverage is sh!t, couldnt see it this morning, so that meant having to wait till now on BBC 3......what did they do just before the race, they had a news bullten saying Jensen won the race, fcuked the whole things for me. Button is on top form would be great to see brawn GP pull of the constructors title at least.

I player doesnt update till after the rerun on BBC, and the red button doesnt have the same options of Virgin for some bloody reason. And yes, its gonna take a hell of alot to happin for me to believe that Jensen is as good as MAssa Alonaso Hamilton etc etc. Alonso is in a slow car, Massa is in a slow car as Riki, Hamilton, your telling me these teams are just off...in a crap car they where less than a second off pole, whats gonna happin when they come in with new cars 1/3 into the season? And when the rear diffuser appeal get finalised and they are all the same?
