That was my attitude in the past - but as nuts as it sounds for me to say iit; i'm quite enjoying my cardio at the moment and thinking about upping my levels from 45mins a day on average to maybe also doing an evening session. I'm very concious of overdoing it though. On my day off the other day i had a twinge in my knee while taking out my old bath and all i could think was christ this'll bugger up my shapeup chances!

Is it too late to join?? I know I have missed the start date but that will only be a disadvantage to me. Fair enough if i'm too late, i'll join next time - but when is that?

Oh noes, hope it's nothing too serious. I had some ankle problems a while ago, had to see the physio. Between us we suspected some sort of repetitive strain injury from the cross trainer! I would stay away from that while your ankle is a problem. The rower would be a good substitute.

I was going to do some cardio yesterday but it was throwing it down so did more weights instead, even though I used to and still would love running miles and miles in the rain I cant stand cycling in heavy rain, get paranoid about idiot car drivers not seeing me and turning my arse into a garage

I do bag work and use a kettlebell for cardio. Also did Farmers Walks with 40kg dumbbells today with my training partners - we do a relay for about 15 mins - kills grip too!

theiopener Only if you chased it for 3 miles Ah in that case How much cardio are you doing all together between those 3 sessions? THat's some great dedication you've got keeping that up TIO. I'm loving the competitive spirit that i'm getting from the challenge - if i'm flagging on the cross trainer it's the first thing that springs to mind. Maybe i should print out the shapeup challenge forum and stick it to the fridge!

Erm, time wise it was around 2 and a half hours a day i think, then its weights. I also include my 90 minute walk to and from th gym as part of the total cardio time. Now its going to be around 2 hours as im dropping cardio first thing in the AM in an attempt to let my Soleus muscles heal. So far its working. Im also about to bump up the cals as i need to slow this cut down and fast.

You do more in a day than I've been doing in a week. Do you really need that much cardio? I have started pretty conservative with 3 x 30 min sessions which I will increase by number and duration as time goes on. Do you get better results from increasing cardio and keeping calories that bit higher. Due to work and familiy constraints, Im going to have to cut calories more than I like really as cardio time is limited to 3-4 sessions a week. Do you think 20 mins after a weight session is worthwhile?

Do you think 20 mins after a weight session is worthwhile? Well like i said its 90 mins walking which i include in my total cardio time. I get results by battering cardio and keeping cals low and having a refeed. Any cardio time is worthwhile, if you get a chance, do it!

theiopener, what sort of pace do you walk at as I walk quite a bit each day but to be honest never really considered it as cardio just a bit of gentle exercise, which I know being exercise would imply cardio but I've always seen cardio as making me sweat and being a bit or a lot out of breath

Same, does it not annoy you walking through city centers? I know it does my head in IN Bas town centre its not a problem as i just weave in and out of the crowds as there is lots of pavement space. Dont go into Primark though on a weekend, thats asking for you to be trampled on. London rush hour is the worst though, can people just put down their papers, phones etc and just get on the train, get off and get out. Its claustrophobic enough down there

Then I get stressed out cos people keep bumping into me and she gets angry cos i get angry! If I go and sit outside on or on one of the benches I get nagged for not staying with her etc cant win
