Desmo's Shape-Up Disaster? - 03 May 2009 19:40
Stats...
Age : 33
Height : 5'7"
Weight : 11st 6.5lb
Waist : 35"
Chest : 43"
Leg : 24"
Arm : 13"

Aims...
Lean Bulk. I know it's going to be tough to shed some fat whilst trying to build some muscle but I think that along with some cardio to strip the fat, I'll still be getting some begginers gains in there so shouldn't be too bad.
I'll be staying all natural apart from some MyProtein True Whey.

Pics...
I've put on my tight shorts just to show the worst Hopefully by the time we're finished with the last set of pics they'll not look so bad.

Cheers guys....and gal

I know a lean bulk is nigh on impossible, especially if you don't really know what you're doing . But like I said, if I eat clean enough I should drop some fat and I'm hoping the rest will come from some newbie gains so I think in 3 months there should be a decent enough visible difference.

So, does that mean I need to start eating properly today?

Well, it started off as support but we'll have to wait and see . I was meant to be kicking her out of bed for morning cardio but I might just leave here there now and go on my own, hehe.

Yeah, might think about getting a journal going

I pretty much stick to 3x8 for each exercise. I find it helps me to keep constant progress as if I complete the third set of 8 then I up my weights the following week. I don't like being able to complete my sets easily

I've trained on and off over the years but never anything serious as you can see from my pics. But this time I feel more settled in my routine and the gym so hoping I'll stick to it a bit longer this time around.

Hi mate - just a nod to say there is a pretty good lean bulk thread at the moment by Brittas which is in the diet section.

Anyhow good luck with your 12 weeks

Had my first weeks weigh in yesterday and dropped approx 2.5lbs. I'm not keeping too much of an eye on my weight as I'm still trying to bulk as well but I'd say that initially it should be dropping as the fat should drop faster than I can build muscle.

Squats, Deads, Leg Press and Lunges tonight and then back on our morning walks tomorrow

Solid work mate. Nice to see us essex members leading the way ahead of all the others members from less salubrious parts of the country

Are you finding it helps having a partner who is doing the challenge too?

To be honest, the SUC is enough for me so I'd do it anyway. If anything, Welshy benefits from me doing it as I kick her up the arse

In fairness though, I'd say it does help a little. We don't want to let each other down

I might make you if we have that BBQ

Missed a morning cardio session this week but been out on the bikes a couple of times. Welshy picked up her new bike this morning as she's been using my sisters old one but it's too big for her really. New one is pretty swish so we'll be doing a fair bit more biking now I reckon

Out to watch the new Star Trek with friends tonight so our cheat meal will be this evening. Still going to take it easy though

If we get round to tidying up the garden during the next 10 weeks and i can keep to some sensible progress overall for the SU challenge i may even have a forums BBQ here. Decent pub/pool hall/pub food place 5mins walk away, plus the inevitable carnage at home could be a laugh.

Didn't have a good week last week with the morning cardio and my diet wasn't great yesterday either. Had a weigh in this morning and have dropped to 11st 0.25lb  hehe. Must just be dehydrated from drinking last night

I had the same thing this morning after i'd had some wine last night - that dehydrates me like you wouldn't believe. Glad to have weighed myelf again several hours later and having drunk 2 x 1litre bottles of squash, half a bottle of water, and then a pint of fosters and i was actually lighter than this morning!

I was too zonked to get up once I hit the sack. Think I had a few vodkas too many

Made up for it today by going out for a walk with my mate. GPS on the phone says we did 6.77km so not bad for an afternoon stroll to the park.

Kind of heading in a different direction with this which I guess puts me out of the running if we have to stick to our original plan. Not that it bothers me as it's only for a bit of fun and is still driving me on.

I'm losing a fair amount of weight and fat at a steady rate and can start to see the difference so I'm looking to cut a bit more rather than worrying about trying to build muscle too. Still going to the gym the same amount so will slowly build but the walking and now running is starting to pay off along with working on the diet.

I'm down 8lb since the start which although isn't a massive amount, it's a nice steady drop. I've also only been running this last week so if I keep that up I should see more gains
