defo helps keep blood pressure down as well for me weight gain this week was 1.4lbs, which is just about perfect. might not sound alot, but at that rate im betting that there is some muscle going on. im looking at where i am right now, if i can keep going the way i am, i will have a very competitive package for the u90kg class come late summer next year. and i reckon in 2-3 years time i can sculpt a title winning physique. watch out everyone, im coming!

cheers guys! when i did leeds a few things changed, i turned my self critisism into a positive approach, rather then a negative reason not to do things. Im still very self critical, BUT im using it in a whole different way (i believe it was yourself james, that said i needed to do this quite a while ago.) I achieved what was once my goal, to step on stage. And i gained a new goal, which is to take a british title. Doing leeds has also had a dramatic effect on my physique, it has helped me start on a transformation. Out of my ten years training, nothing ive ever done has come close to the changes competing has brought.

As it's been mentioned about mate, you're new approach to thinking is fantastic. Somthing I hope to do next year. With the weight gain I'd say that 1.4lb is a good solid gain, not much fat if any will be put on with that gain.

Knees are feeling sore for some reason. Hope they are ok tomorrow night, im training quads for the first time since my comp, and squats are my weapon of choice for tomorrow

legs tonight. i wont call it a 'session' as it wasnt ! Having not done squats for nearly 3 months, training since my comp has been focused on bringing the teardrop up, so quads havent been trained. I cant believe im going to post up the training from tonight. its rather embarrasing! squats. bar x 30 60kgx20 100kgx15, then rest paused to get to 20. after that i had the worst case of jelly legs ive ever had! so- 100kgx8 60kgx20 erm, thats it. i can bench way more than i squat. oh dear. hold on. . . . . wait, im a bodybuilder not a powerlifter who gives a fcuk! haha weight will shoot up over the next few weeks, and quads have got some good growth in them, i can feel it. But, as im training with a prolapsed disc, trapped nerve in the neck, sore knees, and a hernia, im certainly not goint to be pushing the weight purely for the ego!! dazette

Good on you mate. Have back issues myself so I understand where you come from - hence I tend to stick to leg pressing and hack squats. Tonite I did some DLing for the 1st time in ages - SLDL and only was doing up to 100kg for 20 - I used to be doing 2.5x that weight. But who cares? I want muscle, not a number NO-ONE will ever see.

saturday was my mates stag do, so a night out round newcastle, 22 of us in total. And i had a drink for the first time in nearly a year. was weird really, i drank quite alot, and didnt really get all that drunk. not that i really wanted to anyway. can say for certain though, that it will be a very very long time before i drink again, if i ever do. just dont see the point in it. also, i remember someone introducing themselfs, and asking if i was dazc off muscle talk. no idea who it was though! this morning, i have a stinking cold, so training is on hold for tonight, untill it gets better. i could easily train through it, but from experience it prolongs recovery by quite a while, and no growing is going to happen while ill, so rest it is

I hope you haven't caught my sniffles ! I'm not one for drinking either to be honest, I just can't be @rsed half the time. I went out on Saturday to a friend's 30th and I only had 3 drinks. Get better soon.

But after squatting the other day, they were more sore than they have been in ages. Im going to pre-exhaust them with leg extensions before squatting from now on, and hit leg extensions again after the squats to really hammer the crap out of them! you decided on your next show yet?

everyone seems to be getting ill atm, just glad i'm over it now and can focus on training - hope you're better soon bud. other than that everything looks good. have you tried "sissy squats" for the tear drop? also 1 and a 1/4 reps on squats?

I thought I should pop by and say hi! I like your pretty photos on p.56! Seriously, cool tattoo, and beautiful Shoulders like boulders. How did you change your mindset? As in, what made yo go from being v.self-critical to more positive? It's a hard thing to do by yourself... Something I'm hoping I'll nail myself in the future...

And if i dont believe in myself, then how can i expect people to get behind me and support me? ive also found that having a more positive outlook is producing the results and making me even more positive! !

I think you're right - totally. I just wondered what it was that helped you to actually change your mindset around? For me, I find it hard to picture how I would look if I looked any good... And I can't, for the life of me imagine it. I've no idea how my leggies would look at all... So are you going to take as long an off-season as you can?

And I can't, for the life of me imagine it. I've no idea how my leggies would look at all... So are you going to take as long an off-season as you can? why do you need to imagine how you would look? make it happen and then you will be able to see it for real! i think your selling yourself very short though to imply that you dont look good! your doing the exact same thing i did for years, rather than looking and thinking 'if i can improve this, i will look even better' your seeing bits and seem to be thinking 'they dont look good, and therefore neither do i' I think things that also helped change my mindset was having people believed i was good enough to compete, ie keith (rightyho) prepping me, and the support on here. Meeting and being with a great GF has also had a big impact as well, the support i get from her is superb. yeah, plan is to do the second to last qualifier. which, would give me the option of trying a second time to qulaify should things not go to plan and i come in smooth/holding water like i did this year. I would love to do the MT show, but realistically i would be missin out on an extra 2 months of improvements, so unless things go very well, i cant se me making that show.

still very ill today, even after 13 hours sleep. only managed a couple of hours at work, before i gave the lads orders for the day and came home. struggling to eat anything, so far today ive had 50g whey in milk, and a cheese and onion pasty. cant really face any food at all, have tried a few times. :-( im also off cycle at the moment, having stopped nearly 4 weeks ago now. no anabolic support, and bugger all food has seen me lose 5 lbs in the last couple of days. thats a months worth of gains. bugger. reckon it will be at least next week before im training and eating properly again. could really have done without this setback :-(

maybe, though if its a bloody awfull photo id rather not be! lol well, still no better today, in fact added to my list of symptoms is now earache, and massive shortness of breat. i climbed up a set of ladders today, and it took me nearly 5 minutes to get my breath back enough to talk :-( only managed an hour at work, the rest of the day has been spent blowing my nose, coughing, or trying not to pass out from coughing. something i have failed at twice already, blacking out from coughing and the blood being stopped to your brain isnt fun at all.

cheers daz, could it be that im starting to feel a bit better? just got up, and i do feel a little brighter. gym seems like a distant memory though, i havent had a week off in years, and this one wont even of been of benefit! weight loss so far is 6.5lbs :-( not suprising though given calories have probably totalled 1500 a day, with about 80g of protein. so much hard work undone already. as if the challenge for next year wasnt hard enough!

Think hard mate about what you are eatting to get you back on track. Even if you pick up some mass gainer , so you have a fast easy way of getting cals into you as i know when you are off your foods its hard to get food down. It like going shopping after a good meal ,you have not got the head on to buy good food . You just want to go home and sleep or put your feet up and whatch TV. Daz
