starting routine - 20 June 2009 23:11
hi guys
i'm looking to get stuck into training but i've not done anything for a few years now, i'm looking to bulk up a bit as although i'm 44 i'm still on the skinny side.
i was looking for a bit of advice as were to start with picking a routine i was think of a 5x5 routine but wondering if there was maybe something else i should maybe do first to break myself in, i will be training at home but i've got a full set of weights with a powerack

Hi Dave

Have a look in here:

Personally I use the 5 x 5 in my training but I train for strength.
For size I would think hgher reps would be what you are looking for i.e. 8 - 10. Seeing as you have a power rack then I would definitely include the basics such as squats.

hi dave
i personally would recommend a 5x5 routine
rippetoe and madcow both have excellent results 4 beginners and old timers coming back after layoff     google them and see what u find
imo u cant go wrong with this basic strength improving program
