Using supersets for HIIT - 09 October 2009 12:50
Don't know if anyone has ever tried this but it is a killer workout. I done 30 secs dumbell squats 30secs bent over rows with one minute rest eight times. It was quite substantially harder than tabata training! Could use lighter weight and only have 30 secs rest but this worked well for me definately feel a huge impact on my system.

More rest to work so you can go for longer. Tabata is what it is but there's many metcon type training drills, the idea is the same - do more work that you can sustain for a significant period of time without slaying your muscle too much.

With tabata you have a 2/1 work/rest ratio and far outstrip your CV capacity, this is why it works.

Another example is barbell complexes where the work rest ratio i similar to tabata but over a longer period say 120s on 1 min off
